seoulteacher - yeah, that's it.

also, not to be a shameless self promoter, but i just posted a fairly lengthy blog entry about my Malaysia trip with a bunch of pics at sportsthatareright.blogspot.com.

and you're right, Penang would probably be best for couples. i went on my own just to chill out. since i split my trip with BKK, i got my drunken nightlife fill there.

If you do go to Penang, get a return flight to Medan (in Sumatra, Indonesia) & make your way by bus to Lake Toba, & the oranghutan reserve at Bohorok.

I liked Cameron Highlands (Tana Rata) & Melaka in Malaysia. It took me a while to figure out the street signs in Penang are at knee level. I kept looking up at the 2-3 metre level for street signs, & saw nothing.

Incidentally, Lake Tuba is actually the crater of a dormant supervolcano. It is believed by a number scientists that it erupted 70 thousand years ago and nearly killed off the human species.

Anyways, I hear it is quite beautiful.

I've been there twice, & it is beautiful.

But Medan is a torrid hole. Maybe the crocodile farm, then out, asap.
