OK, so maybe now, I'm going to say sod it and stay here in Korea for (EVERBODY NOW!) "one more year(!)" and am now thinking, you know, I should be in Seoul, where I know plenty of people from here, and might have a better time there, yellow dust be damned.
Does anyone have any advice about job hunting in Seoul? If you have any sort of job leads for around March or April, or know of good recruiters that you might recommend that can be trusted, would you please PM me.

Much appreciated,

God, what will I be thinking tomorrow?????

Great! You'll love Seoul. You can help the rest of us help rid the city of smog by breathing regularly!

Cheers!

Heh. And my lungs can also act like I've taken up smoking without actually blowing any money. Smile

So, seriously, and good ideas on where to look, where to start? Smile

I can't believe you are going to leave Gwangju! Gwangju is the center of the universe.

Adults ideally, I guess. Kids can be fun too, though.

Adults are a lot more interesting to teach, IMHO. I can only take children in small doses. Cool

Cheers!

Ha. Well, I'm also wondering if I should go home to see my father in a small town in Georgia or go "home" to see a friend of mine, one living in California, the other living in New Hampshire. Or teach somewhere else entirely different.
I'm going to end up camping out at the post office the very last day I am here, as I will have to send my stuff...somewhere. Evil or Very Mad I have no idea what to do with myself.

Is it within the bounds to ask what exactly I can expect if/when I move to Seoul? I like going out to bars and clubs and dancing and meeting people that way, but back home, I was well, a bit of a joiner on book clubs and political groups and play-watching/dinner groups and would like to know about hiking groups etc.
Having lived in Mokpo and Gwangju for the past two years, I do have to ask this question, as I feel like I have been in Plato's Cave for a long time, and don't know that there is much more to life in Korea than hanging out at a bar...

katy,
There's more clubs in seoul by sheer virtue of numbers. Also I'm in the area so it really is the center of all things important Wink

Yes, but to clarify, I am not talking about clubs in the Hongdae area or in Sincheon. I just meant clubs as in how to meet other like-minded people.
Of course, you being there already is a big fat enormous plus. Smile
