| In Korea, I haven't. Once in Canada and everybody knew. I hadn't even officially started working yet, but went home with a woman from a staff Christmas party. She'd been separated for not long and had a daughter. I was only in paid training at the time. |

| First job over six years ago. After one month, dated a coworker for four months. The remaining seven months were hell after we broke up. I had to listen to her teaching in the room next door every day. We avoided each other -- very uncomfortable in a small hagwon with about 6 teachers. I still loved her, but she moved on. Was really, really glad to get out of that place. |

I think it is a bit dumb. I worked at a place with about 22 teachers at one stage. So lot of us and variety. The guys I worked with who got into relationships were at first latched on to by the girls (who just happened to be older than the guys) and who then never let them out of their sights.
The girls didn't seem to like regular Korean guys - only young western males. Reversed, it's like us as guys, having all these nice looking Korean girls come off the plane into our environment and then we coming on to them.
Watch out if you sleep with a tenured co-worker at a public school. The whole school will find out and she can get into a lot of work-related strife depending on the principal's outlook. Perhaps very unfavorable. |

I haven't; and except for some camps with a cutie here and there, haven't wanted to.
On top of that, Koreans seem to have no concept of workplace secrets. These people are around each other more than 8 hours a day...you so much as take too many pens from the office and everyone f'cking knows. |

I believe in Korea, "improper relationship with a co-worker" is actual grounds for dismissal. Not too mention that if things go wrong badly, one might be hit with a sexual harrassment suit
In another country (I have since matured just enough to keep my hands off the ladies in my Korea office) I had a thing going for 2 years with an administrator who was just too cute to ignore. The "fun" part was that most of the time we kept our relationship inside the office (but hiding it from everybody else of course) which resulted in us using pretty much every room, closet or toilet stall with a door and a lock was used for some privacy. The closest we ever came to being discovered was when we used the video conference room and did not realise that the system was on "always-on, auto-answer" Fortunately it would ring first and there were blind spots in the room.
Best times were on overnight company trips (privacy and the comfort of an actual bed) but it did involve a lot of sneaking and climbing through windows or over balconies.
Lots of things about that I would do differently today (most of all, DON'T!), but neither of us really regrets those days. I think here in Korea it is more a lack of opportunity than a matter of principle. |

True dat! But it's sound advice. Lest we not forget about the repercussions encountered by the other party. |
