Captain hot water to the rescue!

Could be the boiler needs bleeding of air, which ours did due to a leak somewhere in the floorpipes. This became the very least sought after job in the whole of the world, because it invariably piked in the early hours just in time to deliver a crap burst of boiling water followed by icy cold.

There are two brass screws under the boiler, one of which may have an inch of plastic pipe stuck on it. Unscrew it until it hisses, or if nothing comes out just wait until water comes out- 1-2 mins. Right as rain.

The other brass screw is purely decorative.

My thermostat is in English, or rather Konglish; there's a setting for 'outing', which cracks me up every time I use it. Now if only I could figure out the seventeen buttons on the dashboard of my washing machine.

I think most gas boilers have a summer/fall setting (여름/겨울). If your gb's still set to "summer" that might be the problem.

With gas boilers, it's usually something simple. However, I would still recommend you beat the bloody blue hell out of the infernal thing.

Okay some pictures.. so what am I doing wrong to get the hot water on properly??? Wink

I know the red button on top is part of it of course. But the rest... I knew it in the summer but not working properly - well any longer than about 30 seconds now.

Any thoughts?

That's the same setup I have... when the weather really got cold in early December, I got two weeks of cold showers when my boiler went out... as far as settings... the dial on the lower left should be turned to the right... the dial on the lower right should be turned to the left... FOR GOD SAKES, DON'T TOUCH THE RED BUTTON...

Actually, I don't know what that one does... push it and see what happens.

I'm currently trying to figure out how to wire the little red button to the ejector seat I installed in one of the other teacher's chairs in my institute...

My shower's quite good but every few days it'll start blasting out cold water after a minute and then I'll have to leave it for three minutes or so. The problem is, during that time it's bloody cold and if my hair's not finished then there's no getting out of the shower, and a bad time is had all around.
Here's what you do then. Before the shower fill up the sink with hot water. At the same time boil a pot of water on the stove. Now we have a sink of hot water, and some really really hot water. Then get into the shower, and if it starts acting up turn it off for a bit, give it a rest. While doing that you can use the hot water in the sink. If it gets a bit lukewarm or you run out, grab the pot of hot water and put it in and the water will be piping hot again. By that time you might have finished your "shower", or the hot water might have come back on.

Turn the knob in the middle fully to the right.

Press all the buttons.

My system goes through phases. No hot water coming out of the taps, no matter how many buttons I press or knobs I turn, though I do get a blazing hot apartment in my attempts to fix the problem. Then it mysteriously goes back to normal for three weeks-or it did last time and I'm hoping it does this time. Though some of the info on this thread may help me actually figure out the bloody thing. Thanks!

Strangely I had a great shower today. Best in a long time and I just soaked up the heat of the water.. scrubbing clean today.

Somedays the water is so cold I just rinse myself quickly rather than a solid scrub.

By the way, all buttons went as far to the right as the could. (I've done this other days however and it doesn't seem to work however).

I've found that in this situation it is best not to turn the hot water on full. I turn on the water about 2/3 of normal and the water gets plenty hot.

Keep in mind that the middle button is for the floor temperature. Set it in the middle and you'll be fine.

Also, I believe in some systems, your shower water comes through the Ondol. You can't operate both at once.

If you have 4 small push buttons on the side, which I do, press the 3rd one down for a hot shower, wait a couple minutes.

I will say this much; your problem sounds like you're not telling the boiler that you want hot water for washing. My control panel is pretty simple, and I press a red button to switch between floor heating and hot water. If I don't switch to hot water, I'll run out pretty quickly, since the boiler only has a small amount of hot water stored in it, and the rest is sitting in the floor, making it hot.

If there's a button that has Geuptang/Nanbang options on it, you should set it to Geuptang. Also, don't let the water pressure be too high...the lower it is, the longer the hot water will last.

Also, listen for the boiler(if you can) when you take a shower. It should turn on during your shower.
