Step one- Go to the police station. If you can't speak Korean go with a Korean friend.
Step two- Find at least two pieces of Photo ID preferably a birth cirtificate and a citizenship statement.
Step Three- Find a photo shop that is willing to make certified photo's these are best done close to your embassy.
Step four get at least two people who you can use as a reference.
Step Five- Go to your countries Embassy with all the above information.

You probably also need a police report stating its loss. Contact the local police office and file a report. I'd contact the embassy first though. They can give you all the info. Don't wait on this. Start immediately. |

The specific steps to take will depend on where you are from.
Your embassy or consular service will have a webpage that describes the necessary steps to take. |

I think for the U.S. u need a police report and some form of ID. But, as Tom suggests, check the Consulate's website to be sure. |

The Canadian Embassy won't even talk to you until you provide the Police Report. You can get an Emergency six month passport if you really need it in a hurry. This may be neccesary if you can't get your documents together plus you need at least two people who can attest your identity. |

Crisis averted; found it. Thanks for the timely replies.
Mental note: getting a safety deposit box by next week. |

I make copies of my photo page and the visa page, just in case.
I also pencil in my contact info where I should. Koreans are good about returning lost passports. I say 'good'.
I know a klutz who lost her passport on her very first day here, but she got it back somehow. |
