The OP is not who I'm unimpressed with (other than for posting it here in the wrong forum -- probably because he was unsatisfied with the hits it was receiving elsewhere). It's the person who hacked her e-mail, and the Obama camp, who was likely behind it.

I didn't intend to post it in this forum. The mods should move it, I just wasn't thinking when I created the topic (about ten seconds after I saw the news story).

As for Obama... I'm not American, so I can't support him. I hope he wins, but I can't do anything about it.

I guess if by the "Obama camp", you mean part of the majority of Americans who support him, then I suppose you are right. Very Happy

You know Im sorry but there needs to be a basic acceptence for what reality is.

This is a woman who believes a man lived to be 900 had kids at 500 and got two of every animal including insects to *beep* on a boat. She believes dinosaurs lived with people and the world came into existence in six days is only 4,000 years old.

I guess that explains the origins of Korea's sparkles its older than the earth.

A man came back from the dead and people speak space-age languages?

Science is in total agreement that world is BILLIONS of years old and certainly was birthed in something slightly more than six days and dinosaurs, sorry bible belt people DID NOT live with people.

I do not want the most powerful office holders in the land to be blind to REALITY because God knows what else they will be blind to.

This isnt about religion, its about reason and she apprently checked it at the door. Even the POPE the POPE both Benedict XVI and (St.) John Paul II believed in evolution.

Why is it someone is entitled to be wrong and it ok because of religion. If I told you I belived that the world was created in six days out of a lotus from the navel of Shiva people in the states would write me off as a looney but the second I say I meant the navel of Jesus all is forgiven?

Exactly, Streetgang.

Obama is a Christian too and so far he's kept his Christian tongue outside of political affairs as it doesn't belong there. Sure, he pays lip service, but that's a necessity in the US.

So far, he has managed to keep his religious thoughts separate from his political decisions and that's all that people like me are asking. He practices the doctrine of keeping one's personal religion and one's politics separate.

We definitely don't want someone in office who mixes religion with their politics, especially when their religious conception is of the kind that makes the average Christian cringe. If she wins, America might be fighting "Holy Wars" in order to make certain "prophecy" reaches fruition unhindered. That's scary.

I don't have the power to move threads, sorry for misplacing it here. It was a spur of the moment thing.

If the mods see it fit to give me moderation power (why wouldn't they!), then I'll gladly move this thread post haste.

I agree with the OP. He isn't demonizing Christianity. Believe what you want to believe. The Republicans build and fund Evangelical churches all over the country. Watch the documentary 'Jesus Camp' and/or do some research on how the Republican Party appeases the Evangelicals.

There are an estimated 80 million of these wingnuts in America. Creationism, Pro-Life, pro war on terror, anti-homosexuality are themes of this large corporate machine.

Why is it not politically correct to bash Evangelicals? Because they hide behind 'Jesus'. While on TV, or on the street it is wrong to call somebody a faggot. But, if you call somebody gay in the name of God it is perfectly OK....Pathetic.

Amen.

Son, if you had faith in GOD, you would have the power to move this thread. At the very least, say a prayer to the lord right now on your knees, and ask for his forgiveness. The lord knows everything you're doing right now, and he forgives you. PRAISE JEEEESUS!

You can't possibly believe that if god exists, he reads Dave's. I didn't know a creator could be so petty. Observing me observing Dave's is even more than petty.

Besides, I'd make a terrible Moses. The only thing I can part is wind. My wind.

Are you seeing clearly or are you only seeing what you want to see? I am referring to evangelicals, not run of the mill lay-Christians. Christians are one thing, these people are extremists. They're radical. You think I'm intolerant?

Palin believes the "rapture" is coming, and Jesus will descend from heaven in her lifetime. We're entrusting this nut with a whole lot, and she's already proven that she can't handle it.

Yet she's merely an example of what is going on all over the country.

You know what the really scary thing is? I'm starting to doubt that at the very top levels of government, the leaders are evangelicals. The evangelicals didn't vote until the government realized how big their numbers were about twenty or thirty years ago.

The government is using religion as a mobilising force, but do they actually believe what they preach or are they using an illogical faith as a tool to control the masses? Wouldn't that be perfect. Worked in the middle ages, hell (literally), why wouldn't it work now?

American society hasn't always been this dumb. It was the forefront of the world for so many years. America was the home of so many great things and despite massive blunders in the past, the whole world can see through to the good qualities that the country used to have.

Now the country is being divided and conditionned back into ancient ways of thinking. I think Obama would break this cycle, but if McCain and Palin are elected, we're going to witness the downfall of an empire. I guess what they say is true, "All Empires Fall".

"And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!""
MLK

...and you want to take away their right to vote.

I think you should retract that one single point if you want the rest of your argument to hold water.

As long as they're not gay, pro-choice or belonging to another religion.

Hence the remark I made about three pages ago about needing to take an IQ test in order to vote. Martin Luther King probably would have scored very high on critical thinking ability, as would other prominent historical figures.

George Bush, Sarah Palin and you might not score as high.

Are you even reading or are you just a quote machine?

I distinguish between types of Christians because some are far more rational than others.

Son, Jeeeesus died for your sins. He washed them away with his blood! He gave up his LIFE so that you may have yours, and your sin in mocking his HOLY works here on this thread just give us evidence of his truth.

Just think, while you mock Jeeeesus...he is watching you. One day, when you keel over of a heart attack, or cancer, or suffer a stroke, Jeeeesus will be waiting for you on his throne. What will you say to him then? Will you say..."Oh Jesus, I didn't have faith then, but I belive in you now!"

Why ? Why would a nice guy like you wanna kill Jeeeesus? You know that the lord really likes you. He likes you, he really likes you. He's got something in mind for you. Aren't you curious about that ? I'm curious, I'm very curious. You curious ?There's something happening out there, man. You know something, man, I know something that you don't know.

That's right, jack. The lord is clear in his mind. Oh yeah. He's dying, I think. He hates all this, he hates it! But ... the lord's ... uh ... he reads poetry out loud, alright? ... And a voice! A voice. ... He likes you because you're still alive. He's got plans for you. Nah, nah, I'm not going to help you, you're going to help him, man. You're going to help him. I mean, what are they going to say, man, when he's gone, huh? Because he dies, when it dies, man, when it dies, he dies. What are they going to say about him? What, are they going to say, he was a kind man, he was a wise man, he had plans, he had wisdom?

Bullshit, man! Am I going to be the one, that's going to set them straight?

Very Happy

"We've had 8 years of Bush."

We can't have an IQ test minimum for voting - it would disenfranchise know-it-all Canadians who sometimes get confused regarding whose leaders are whose.
