i had a 1 year multiple entry E2.
i extend that visa, pay the 60K. they don't put ANYTHING in the passport when you extend so you just have the expired visa papersticker, which makes me nervous because now i'm at the mercy of the computer system completely.
i didn't realize that the extended visa then became single entry from multiple. surprise at the airport.
anyway, extension 60K, multiple at immi is 60K...that MORE than the cost of my original visa! wtf.
it's just feels like moneygrubbing and i'm venting.

Ummm...

A work extension for an E2 is only 30k won. A change of employer / addition of a workplace is 60k.

A multiple re-entry permit is 50k won (singles are 30k won).

A Multi-entry visa is a perk for being from the States (since the US gives multi-entry visas to Koreans - recpricoal treatment). The rest of us only get a single entry visa. The fact that an extension is treated like anyone else is because the US doesn't extend visas for Koreans - they have to get a new one when the old one expires).

Hang on Tom, i'm a kiwi and i got a multiple entry visa no problems on my current contract (which is not a renewal).
Do you mean on a renewed contract perhaps that americans automatically get a multiple entry while everyone else gets a single?

hmmm...i coulda sworn they charged me 60 for the extension...
i could also be losing my memory.

i had a multiple then after the extension (i just assumed they were extending the visa i already had) they changed it to a single, since that particular date was expired.

i don't really get single entry for a work visa, doesn't seem appropriate. vietnam gives multiple for an only 3 month work visa...

I mean that when you renew or extend your current status of sojourn the multi-entry privileges from the original visa do NOT carry forward to the extension period.

You will have to purchase a re-entry permit (single or multi) if you want to travel abroad during an extension period.

For Brits, it is free. For the rest of us, a multi-entry permit is 50k won.

Don't Americans get the free multiple entry visa for the first year only?

I am British and each time I wanted a multiple re-entry permit, it has been free.

This is a lazy question. Can I get my multi-entry permit at the airport, or would it save time to bite the bullet and go to immi? I am not traveling until Christmas break.

It's my understanding that you can only get a single entry permit at the airport and if you want a multi you have to do it at ur local immy office...however, that being said, my understanding could possibly outdated. Very Happy

I'm an American and I only got a single entry in my original visa. When my fiancee came 6 months later, she had a multiple entry. It didn't seem quite fair since we both came from the same country, state and city and got our visas from the same embassy to work at the same school. No one at immigration could explain why there was a difference.
