Ok.... Heres my deal. I have been sending home money off an on for a year or so now and they have always told me that I have to show a pay slip in order for my money to be sent home which is fine yada yada yada.... I dabble a bit in the casino's and I hit a jackpot of 40,000,000 won. Now with no way of showing records of this and gambling practically forbidden in this country. How can I get it home?? Is the only way to turn it into dollars here and then just take it over illegally on the plane?? If any one knows any loop holes I would really appreciate the info. THanks |

Can't you recieve proof of your winnings from the casino?
Or did you win the 40 million won over a long period of time and not all in one bunch? |

He said 40 million.
I don't know, but how much of a paper trail does using Western Union leave if you send your money in increments of less than $10 000 USD? |

Didn't they give you a slip indicating how much you won and how much tax was taken out?
If none was taken out (which would be very surprising) I suggest that you pay whatever is due (26%?)
I'm not sure, but I think that you're allowed to send out half of what you make , so show the receipt for winnings/taxes to the cashier and transfer half of it now.
I suggest changing the balence of the money into U.S. hundreds and taking it back with you to the U.S. (perhaps visit your relatives for Christmas or Hanakah...)
You may need to declare to customs if you're taking more than $10,000 cash, but I don't think there's anything to stop you from taking $20,000 home with you.
If your total taxable income exceeds $84,000 (or whatever the exact figure is for the tax exemption on foreign earnings) you may be legally required to pay some U.S. income tax. |

If you have a K-friend willing to help you out (and be sure you trust them, because they'll have to go to the bank alone) then you can have them send the whole amount out via Western Union to someone in your home country... Or, they can screw you and send it to someone else, lol... Although with WU I think the cap is 10k per person, per day... |
