I had an offer from recruiter 1 at BaitnSwitch. They told me I could work at one of two middle schools or an elementary school. They said I could make 3.0 million/month which would include overtime work.
So, I was interested in one of the middle schools. The next day I was told one of the middle schools already found a teacher, and the other school wanted a female teacher. So, this left the elementary school. I looked into it, visited the school, liked it, and was all ready to get things set up.
Then, they told me about the salary being only 2.1 million won. I told them that I was expecting more. They then offered to find me another school with higher pay. After realizing that I wasn't going to budge, the next day they called to tell me that the school was willing to pay 2.3 with additional overtime beyond that. So, I agreed to these terms.
Now, recruiter 2 from BaitnSwitch is back at it trying to lower the salary to 2.1. They are saying that the contract will say 2.1 but the school promises to pay .2 million won more. However, this isn't going to be stated in the contract. I told them today I would NOT do this. I told them the contract has to have 2.3 in it or else I am not signing it.
So, recruiter 2 from BaitnSwitch then decided to make the process more difficult by requesting letters of reference from schools I taught at in Japan. I am assuming this tactic is to try to get me to accept a lower salary which wouldn't require reference letters.
I thought I would post my experiences with them, not really looking for help in the matter. Don't get roped in by them, stand your ground. If you go with them, only sign the contract if it reflects what the school is promising. |

I think for people not to be drawn in, roped in and ripped off, they'd have to know the real name of BaitnSwitch. |

That's why I put it in the subject header
BaitnSwitch is a play on words for the real name. |

Worknplay did it to me too.
This is how Julie Lim did it: She sent me an e-mail she claimed was for someone else but when i replied 'at least put me at Level 2 Epik' she accepted it after i originally indicated my correct level of level 1 due to my substantial experience.
I gave her a glowing reference but beware cos these recruiters are coniving and duplicious people at times. |

I thought I would update this thread because I ended up taking the job. I have just started, so things aren't fully set up yet. I did get a very nice villa style studio apartment. It's not big, but everything is new.
I have been at the school 2 days, and we are waiting for an English village to be completed. So far, it looks nice and I have a good feeling about working here compared to other schools I have been at. I just wish WorknPlay was more upfront about the actual contract terms and salary. They kinda fibbed here and there to get me to sign the contract.
Again, don't trust any of the recruiters, they are only a matchmaker for you and the school. I don't see WorknPlay as different than any other recruiter I have talked to. |

One thing I can say about WorknPlay in their favor is that they at least tell you what school you will be working at. If you apply directly through GEPIK or EPIK, it's a crap shoot to even what city you will be working in. |
