| I remember my first years of elementary school, way back in the late 1970s, and teachers telling us that the Amazon rainforest will be completely gone by 1983. Well, when 1983 rolled around, guess what? Yep, the rainforest was still there, albeit slightly less than its previous state. The teachers told us, after getting the newest data, that X amount of rainforest would be gone in X amount of years. Turns ot to be 100% bullsh... Now, I don't blame my teachers for knowingly being wrong as I understand they had to use the best data available at the time. I just find it supremely arrogant that some scientists today are running around like Chicken Little when they think they know what the heck is going on when in fact, it's pure speculation based on a sliver of time amounting to a blink of an eye in the history of our planet. However, I do agree that it is better to do something now based on our paranoia as Chicken Little may be correct. Better safe then sorry. |

I know it must have come as quite a shock when you learned elementary school teachers don't know everything! Maybe, just maybe, this is because your elementary school teachers did not have Phd.s in science?
By the way, I hate to break it to you, but there's no Easter Bunny.
I remember a professor at Yale University way back in the early 1970s telling me that in 20 years or so they would be able to put an entire stereo amplifier on a single integrated circuit.
Guess what? |

| I don't think the global warming bs is harmless at all, rather the opposite, wrong headed economic decisions based on idiotic reasoning could be catastrophic for us all. Global Warming is just the latest, most convincing agit-propoganda. What is worse is that it has almost morphed into a religion with all the trappings of religion. Prophetic writings, inspired evangelists, and catastrophic predictions of doom. All playing on the fear of death deep inside the human psyche. Global Warming is the new religion and Al Gore is its high priest. After all he has the solution - carbon swapping with third world despots and a hybrid car in every drive way. |

You still haven't actually fronted any evidence for why it's bs. And I've done enough Physics at university to understand the basics. At a basic level it's very simple and uncomplicated science. The difficulty is predicting the exact consequences in a complex adaptive system as our atmosphere and oceans are. That's where the Phds and supercomputers come in handy.
Greenhouse gases absorb the shortwave radiation and reemit it in all directions. The net effect is close to putting another blanket on your bed in summer. |

| Hey Gatsby, how about using a bigger font next time you quote someone... Oh, and read my post again with a more critical eye and with less emotion. |

To be fair, scientists actually know EXACTLY what is going on. There is speculation as to WHY it is going on, but that's differnt.

| No the burden of proof is on those who want to change the system, not on those that want to keep it. The so called scientist sure as hell are in it for the money, the prestige, the easy jobs. |
Well, considering those who want to "keep the system" have never had to provided evidence/proof (or even make an EFFORT to indicate) that what they are doing is safe for the environment, it seems a bit of a double standard.
Up until only recently has anyone in the oil industry (or energy sector) EVER had to convince people that their byproducts were safe/harmless?

Assuming you meant "Data" (not date) this shows a tremendous amount of ignorance.
But since you DO appear to understand the complexities of scientific computer modelling of weather patterns, I'm hoping you could explain how you know what "too little data" actually means. |

Why are you getting so hot under the collar? You have the fervour of a religious fanatic.
Just let me restate my position: I think Global Warming Theory is pure bunkum. Please do take the time to look at the very interesting book 'Krakatoa' written by Simon Winchester. Or even better 'The Surgeon of Crowthorne' another novel by Simon Winchester.
PS Mencken was a putz who never moved out of his parent's home. |

Seriously, Simon Winchester? He's written some good books but you have failed to introduce a single shred of data. |
