Cool article. I always thought The Big Lebowski was the first early nineties nostalgia movie - Saddam Hussein, German nihilists (read: Nietzsche and post-structuralism) amongst others.

P.S. has anyone ever played The Big Lebowski drinking game? Have a White Russian each time the Dude has one.

Try taking a shot of beer every time the "F" word is spoken. I knew there was a lot but I had no idea there are 281 in the movie. Needless to say, the task is rather impossible. Works out to about 35 beers in 1.5 hours. Good luck.

Nice article---thanks for posting it. I usually don't like this pop sociology stuff but that was good.

Coens peaked with Fargo and Lebowski. New film is crap.

Sobchak a neo con? As I understand it neocons are usually academic bigwigs before veering rightwards. I don't buy it, but it's still a good article.

Say what you will about the tenets of national socialism, at least it's an ethos.

I don't understand what this post is trying to say about Communism versus Neo-Conservativism.

I don't understand where you got the idea that this post was about Communism.

Yes it was. Now I get it. I have no opinions regarding NeoCons and Commies.
