default swaps on a great clutch of America's biggest companies are flashing imminent bankruptcy signals: Washington Mutual (2638), General Motors (2284), MBIA Insurance (2187), Advanced Micro (1773), Ford Motor (1718).

This gets grimmer by the day. |

| Congressional leaders were told that were literally maybe days away from a complete meltdown of our financial system, with all the implications here at home and globally. |
If they are being explicitly told this, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened within ONE or two days (not counting Sundays). |

I have it on good authority that if you stick your lower lip out far enough and pout long and hard enough, you will get your way.
I came across one bit of bright news. An article quoted someone who knows about these things saying that in 1929 there were no mechanisms to deal with an economic crisis, but this time around the actions of Paulson etc are the result of having mechanisms in place. We have some kind of fighting chance. It's better than nothing since it could already be a lot worse than it is. Faint comfort, I know, but still... |

It it the "mechanisms," Socialist Mechanisms, that have caused the problem.
Wake up already.
This problem has been caused by the government, again!
How can anyone be so clueless, to not see this reality.
Yes, more and more, it seems a minimum IQ to vote or run for office should be implemented. Maybe a 140 IQ minimum score would be better. |

Maybe if you wrote in 24 pt type it would be true. (Or is 'huge' 36?)
Yes, I understand that in this past week your entire political philosophy has gone kaput. I'm sorry about your feelings of devastation, but I'm sure you'll be able to adjust when you learn to repeat, "There's no place like the 21st Century. There's no place like the 21st Century." |
