You are doing them a favor by buying them out of the bar/pet store, but you are also supporting the industry that is causing them to be in bars/pet stores in the first place. |

What's your point?
I also think that zoos should be banned. People shouldn't go to zoos in my opinion. No visitors, no zoos. |

Yup, puppy mills are basically factories with puppy-producing machines - those mothers are never not-pregnant, (all of their lives) Whats worse is the puppies aren't weaned long enough so a lot of them get sick and die anyway, sigh. |

I agree. I'm a meat-eater and eat bosintang every once in a while, too. It's one thing to get a new dog b/c it's a pedigree and you want to keep the dog for life. But people, like foreigners, who will only be w/ the animal for a few years, or less, are better off adopting. It's cheaper, it doesn't feed the mills and it's kind to the animals. |

Historically, I'd agree with you, but most modern zoos do more good than harm. In developed countries, animals that are in zoos are born in captivity, not captured from the wild. Zoos also serve a purpose in conservation and research. Granted, very few animals are reintroduced to the wild, but that is an issue with logistics rather than goals.
Zoos are also doing their best to provide adequate environments for their animals as well. For example, Seoul Grand Park, which currently provides substandard facilities for their animals is working to enrich the environment of the animals. (I have no sources for this other than anecdotal evidence. I volunteered there observing hyenas, and a coworker of mine volunteered there working on providing the apes with a more enriching environment.)
The fact of the matter is that while zoos are not as good as the wild, in many cases they are the best alternative. For example, orangutans. In Borneo and Sumatra, the habitats are quickly disappearing, and wild orangutans are often captured for pets and to be put in crappy zoos. They're better off in an adequate zoo in the west than they are in the wild.
*Yes, I know. Many of these claims require proof, but I'm lazy, and if interested, you can go to wikipedia or the websites of any modern zoo. |

Buying a dog from a respectable breeder means not supporting puppy mills.
My parents own two Golden Retreivers, and they visited the farm where the dogs are born and raised until they are sold; lots of space, shelter for when it rains or is cold and large fenced in areas for them to run around when the weather is nice. They were $1000 each, but you get what you pay for; well-tempered, sociable, and with no major health problems (yet, although they're a few years old now and so far so good). |

I agree with that, but I don't know if the same idea applies in Korea. |

Hey i know some dogs that could be guilty of jaywalking and some cats that have murdered some pretty innocent birds. Abu was always stealing in Aladdin... and cows are some of the worlds biggest polluters. Fish flagrantly have sex in our water and don't ge me started on BEARS which are one of the biggest threats to America. |

I agree, its a sad affair, I walk past pet stores often and see the poor little dogs in that box in the windows for weeks or months.. what happens to the ones who dont get bought for 400.000won??? hate to think...
I own two beautiful dogs, and I have owned dogs and cats my whole life..
I feel sorry for so many pets who are born into these mills, but lets remember there are so many worse cases from dog owners! abuse! killing for fun! tortue etc.. chit humans throw babies in dumpsters!
best we can do is care for our pets the best we can and give them the best life we can.
I agree ZOO'S are totally wrong! and pet stores keeping little cats or dogs in those tiny boxes is also wrong..
chit the world is wrong hahaaha
Love your pets! becuase they sure love you.. |

Well I know I"d want to stick them in quarantine for 6 months to bring them to Korea just to NOT be able to take them back home. |

|
|
Where can I find a Pomeranian puppy in Korea?? I have moved here permanently and I want to find this specific breed of dog. I would prefer to buy from a breeder but I wouldnt mind checking out some pet stores as well. If you have seen this breed of dog and know where I can purchase a puppy or a breeder that I can contact please let me know. I live in Chuncheon so I can come to Seoul to look as well. |

yeah so true!! I dont know how anyone could just give them away..
I guess it takes a certain person to throw their child in a trashcan or give them up for adoption! or abuse their children!! etc etc
tell you one thing though I could NEVER EVER give my dogs away! NEVER! |
