| I wish the UFC was really what it used to be. ULTIMATE. If Brock was coming at you in a truly no holds barred situation, I think you'd be pretty scared. |

Wouldn't be mainstream or allowed in most states if this was the case.
But in the beginning, those huge guys weren't winning though
They were getting them asses submitted. |

"Who do you guys think would win in a fight if Hong Man Choi fought Brock Lesnar??
Hong Man Choi has the potential to beat Nogueira or Josh Barnnett, and he almost beat Fedor. Hong Man Choi is almost a foot taller than Brock Lesnar, and has never been taken down before.
I say Hong Man Choi wins easily. Brock Lesnar wouldn't take him down fast enough before Hong Man Choi knocks him out."
Errrrrrr!!!???? Oh yeah that's the word I was after..... "IDIOT!!!!" |

Of course, Lesnar - Choi was supposed to headline a pay-for-view last year (in L.A.) but Hong man couldn't get medical clearance for a license due to a benign tumor on his pituitary gland.
He did rough up Fedor (and he wasn't allowed to strike with his knees because of the weight difference) before being submitted in the first round.
With his size and strength he'd have a chance against Lesnar (if allowed to use knee strikes) but Lesnar is a lot meaner and more aggressive.
And Hong man seems more interested in his singing career these days.

I give Lesnar a very good chance to beat Couture since he'll have about a 50 pound weight advantage, and Couture can't take a punch as well as Heath Herring. (And Randy may also be distracted by his film career - after Redbelt...)

This has got to be the most retarded fight analysis I've ever seen.
1) HMC did NOT almost beat Fedor. Fedor won in 1:54 seconds and was never rocked or under danger of a submission.
2) HMC has never been taken down before??? Did you actually watch the Fedor fight? Fedor took HMC down in the first few seconds of the bout.
3) Brock would take down HMC fast enough? lol... I'm not even a Brock fan but it'd be like a bulldog taking down a man on stilts.
You need to watch a bit more MMA buddy!
Anyway, Randy vs Brock: Randy will surprise everyone and take the fight right to Brock, have the advantage in wrestling (little do people know that Randy was an olympic wrestler) and after a fairly tight first 2 or 3 rounds, will pull off a submission; probably a guillotine or RNC. |

Choi was definitely allowed to use knees, just not to the head on the ground. The rule is, whenever there is a 40lb+ weight difference, the smaller fighter has the option to have no knees to the head on the ground. Fedor took it.
HMC could have kneed Fedor standing up all he wanted, if he, you know, could.
Brock Lesnar will beat Randy Couture, and he would embarass Hong Man Choi. He'd obviously lose to Fedor, but with some more experience and his physical tools, he poses the biggest threat to dethrone Fedor down the line.
For the record, I think Lesnar beats Couture, Nogueira beats Mir (you wanna talk about someone who doesn't deserve a title shot, forget Brock, talk about Mir), and Nogueira beats Lesnar. |

I'm not an expert on MMA or the various rules among the different organizations, but I based my statement about Choi not being allowed to use knees against Fedor on what I read on this MMA blog (and posted before):
A while back we heard rumors that Fedor vs Hong Man Choi would be fought under special rules. Of course, we all assumed these special rules would be beneficial to Hong Man Choi like a 1 minute standup rule or something. Well, the special rules have just been announced and it actually looks like they benefit Fedor!
The Yarennoka! New Years Eve 2007″ main event featuring Fedor Emelianenko (26-11) vs. Hong-Man Choi (1-0) will not include any knee strikes.
The rule difference is due to the weight discrepancy between the two participants. Fedor weighs in around 225 pounds while Choi, standing at 7-feet-2-inches, has weighed in around 352-367 pounds.
Thats right, Choi will not be allowed to use his knees in this fight. Considering the fact that clinch + knees were probably the only way he was going to be able to win this fight, its a pretty big setback for the Techno Goliath. No word yet on if Hong Man knew about this rule when he signed the contract to fight, or if its another classic last second rule switchup. Only in Japan, baby!

It'd be funny if Lesnar were to beat Couture, then lose to Nogueira, who down the road fights Heath Herring again and finally loses to him - setting up Herring - Lesnar II. |
