Id like to get a cell phone ASAP but I havent gotten my ARC yet.

I dont want to wait until that all happens. I still have to do the medical check tomorrow.

I went into an LG store today but no one spoke English. So they told me to come back tomorrow.

I have a Verizon RAZR phone from the US and ideally, id like to just connect that somewhere with a prepaid service.

Is this possible? If not, how quickly can I get something else?

I think that your only option is to buy a prepaid phone from somebody else. Lots of foreigners are buying and selling them in classified ads so you should be able to get one there.

For prepaid service "card-uh pone" you only need your passport, cash for the phone and 30k for your initial prepay.

Supplemental / additional payments can be added in 10k increments as you go.

You will NOT be able to hook up your "Verizon RAZR phone from the US".
Now, it is just an expensive alarm clock.

Hate the card-uh phones. W10,000 for 30 minutes of call time, with random disconnections and poor service.

If I were u I'd skip on the card phone and just take care of getting ur ARC quickly. If you've started work already then It's just a matter of going to the local immigration office and applying for ur card. However, if you don't plan on using your phone for calling out in country (u can use it for calling overseas w/ a international calling card) and just plan on using it so u can be contacted then the card phone could be considered. All in all, it's more satisfying and easier having a monthly phone plan and if you just get the basic services it is cheap.
