| Advocates compensate for that with more toilets. The theory, as I understand it, replaces two restrooms with a single, larger one. I think we would still see lines, however. |

Doubtful. I've never seen a lineup in the ladies room at work or school, just places like concerts, bars, movie theatres and other date type destinations. Why that is, is up for debate, but I've got about 30 years of observation to back my claim |

I will concede that it remains to be seen. None of us has any experience in a world consisting exclusively of gender-free, especially, in our context, urinal-free, restrooms.
In any case, if we considered this poll representative, I would also say that it is safe to conclude that those who advocate this change remain a tiny minority bent on forcing the majority to accept its worldview. At this time, one respondent -- who was that, Ya-ta Boy? -- advocates it, 30% remain tolerant of but merely lukewarm towards the idea, and 50% express various degrees of opposition to it. |

Also, in reference to this:

That's strictly to gossip and touch up makeup away from the guys, in situations where we want to look good (it never, ever happens at the office) -- kinda pointless if men will be in there. |
I wonder how gender-free public restrooms would impact upon this and other kinds of deviant behavior that occurs within the culture of male- and female-gendered public restrooms...Would it get better or worse?

Doesn't surprise me at all. I would object to sharing a public toilet with Western women on hygene grounds. Also, the lack of urinals is obviously inefficient and the lack of minimal privacy would be unpleasant. This kind of proposal is just yet another form of petty sadism. |

Just see that you wrap those *ahem* sanitary things before they make it into the trashcan. Makeyawannabarf. |

Nope. Those things are not real, anyway. Just "power's" social and cultural constructions designed to create artificial difference between so-called males and so-called females so that one group may render invisible and then oppress the other -- excuse me, I meant to say "the Other."
Once we adopt gender-free, liberated public restrooms we will take another step towards androgyny and, ultimately, proving that those things never existed in the first place. As someone insisted on proclaiming to me, yet again, in a recent meeting: "there is no there there, man." |
Trippy. Post-modern feminism? |

"Makeyawannabarf"- Agreed, as does piss on the toilet seat and unflushed toilets and all the gross stuff that goes on in a public restroom. You know how most people will flush the toilet after they've taken a dump, but that one socially stunted individual leaves it floating and stinking for all to see? Sam goes for pads- most wrap it and take care not to let the bateria and stench gather, but one person ruins it for the rest of us.
And you just make sure you wash your hands after you've performed that amazing "stand up to pee" technique. I am shocked at how some guys think it's ok to just go behind a bush and then continue on their day without a thought of so much as a rinsing their hands with a little water. What is up with that? |

Well, I generally don't pee on my hands and my peepee is not a dirty body part. |

You don't have to touch your *beep* to pee, but sometimes you do have to touch the toilet to flush. |

| It has been stored in a dark, warm, and moist area all day long and definitely developes a sort of funk. Hence the grossness of crotch scratching. Please, be kind- wash up and use some soap. |

I'll argue this point until the cows home.
Yes, you've described the storage area well, except that it isn't all that wet except on hot days when ballsack sweat starts up. It's pretty much the same environment that my bicep is in, but somehow I don't see people getting grossed out when, after scratching a bicep, a person doesn't wash his/her hand.
Due to my upbringing I am partial to washing my hands afterwards, but, the dirtiest things in the public restrooms are the taps and the door handles, and not the wangs. |

| On a side note, has anyone noticed how fast women come out of the restroom here? Back home, I'd be waiting for what seems like eons. But here, sometimes they come back out faster than I do. |

Odd, I have never heard the phrase "bicep cheese".... |

| We should also have no stalls or barriers between toilets. Actually, women should be required to use urinals like men do. Evolve, ladies. |
