Ok I'm not complaining so much as I want to figure out if I'm getting a little bit screwed in my job. I have a great job with great hours and great vacation but when it comes down to pay I'm starting to think they need to catch up or else they will never be able to hire another teacher as well as lose me. But if you all tell me I'm a jackass and need to quit complaining and I'm a lucky guy well maybe I'll take your word for it. I work 23hrs a week, I get about 10 weeks vacation, and it is paid vacation because its a salary job that they just signed me to a year waige and split it over 12 months. I only teach 9-120 three days, once a week 9-12 and another 10-120. I dont have to be here if I'm not teaching but most supplies and books are given to me so not TOO much prep is necessary. I am only writing this because I'm starting to think that my pay is crap, plus I get no housing allowance. What do you all think should be a standard pay for this job in korea. I know university teachers get much more vacation and much higher pay PLUS housing. I work at a private christian elementary school and after being here and seeing how much work they do every year to the school that they have the money to pay me more. But what is your opinion?

Come to the core of the problem please.

How much do you get, what are your effective working hours, and how much paid holiday do you get.

3 simple numbers.

If you improve your English spelling, grammar and syntax skills they might pay you a higher wage. Wink

My guess is the OP is getting 2.3 million won per month and does not have housing included.

So if I'm correct you basically get 30.0 million as an annual salary and don't get housing included. However, you get low weekly hours (all days), lack of prep time, and 10 weeks of vacation.

If you are getting that I think you're getting a fair deal COMPLETELY BASED on what others get in their jobs with respect to hours and vacation time.

Without your salary we have no idea if you really are getting screwed.

16 1/2 hours a week, little prep time, no need to be there when you're not teaching, and 10 weeks paid vacation. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal.

Then again, you haven't said what you're getting paid.

You say you know uni teachers who getting higher pay and more vacation. You're NOT a uni teacher. Do you think you should be a uni teacher? Do you have the necessary credentials to be a university teacher? If so, get a uni job and stop moaning. If not, get back to work and stop moaning.

I guess it was rough to say when I wasn't trying to complain, I was simply trying to figure out what others thought I should be paid. Nor was i going for the best grammar on typing a post on here. But what should I expect from here, I've seen enough where people just really must have no life that they want to pick apart someones grammar on a post he or she made. And yes i Know THERE are MORE grammar mistakes on here, I'M NOT TRYING TO GET MY MASTERS ON HERE. Simply was wondering what others thought I should be getting paid. I KNOW I'M NOT A UNIVERSITY TEACHER and I was saying that as I know I wont get as much money as them, nor will I get as much vacation. If you have nothing to say to answer the question then why say anything at all????????????

Many people have responded with valuable comments. Yet all you did was offer a rebuttal against someone that complained to you. You keep saying what you want to find out.

Okay...so those of us that put effort into our responses are still waiting to hear what salary you earn so we can tell you if we think you are earning enough money or not.

I think you should get 1 million a month and a case of Ragu spaghetti since it seems there are some things that you need to grasp. Like spellling "wage." WTF is "waige?"

What you should be paid?

Unless you come on here and confess that you were drunk or otherwise inebriated or incapacitated, you should not be paid more than your daily rice and a walk in the park to relieve a painfully stressed waste elimination system.

Learn how to *use* the language before you accept terms of payment to *teach* the language.

He/she can't spell 'peanuts'.

The title of the thread is a statement followed by a question mark to mean - "Is this job paying me a fair wage?" - except, the idiot won't say what the wage is. Unbelievable! Rolling Eyes
