Does anyone here wear gas-permeable contact lenses? If so, do you have any problems wearing them? I lived in dirty China for 3 years and I really didn't have the same problems that I have been having here. It doesn't feel like they are dirty; it just feels like my eyes are really heavy and I can't see very well. I didn't have this problem when I first got here. It has just been the last week. Any thoughts?

Are those hard lenses? I wear soft disposables.

Do you have astigmatism with nearsightedness? This combination is not too common here. I had a really big problem finding a good eye doctor to give me the appropriate prescription. The best doctor here (in Seoul) is located over by Samsung station. The website for his office is
www.icansee.co.kr . He speaks very good English and has thousands of gas permeable lenses on hand. But they are pricey: 300,000 a pair.

Sounds like you aren't getting enough oxygen.

That, or maybe you have damaged your eyes from excessive wear. Do they goop up on you? I had that problem, and had to rest my eyes for a few weeks and not wear contacts. Actually, I got freaked-out because the eye doctor said I may never be able to wear contacts again. I went 5 months without.

I suggest a thorough eye exam.

Do you all recommend that doctor over by Samsung for an exe exam? Yeah I do have astig and nearsightedness. I'm really not sure how to explain it. I was here for a week in Seou and had no problems. Went to the SMOE orientation and had no problems. Came back and started teaching for a few days and had no problems. Then over a week ago, I started having vision problems with my contacts. When I first put them in, I can't focus on anything far away. It gets better as the day goes by, but then gets worse when I'm in places with lots of lights (like sensory overload). The front of my head starts pounding and my eyes feel like they are 50lbs each. I don't think It is from using them too much. Does anyone out there have problems with rigid gas permeable lenses? I was thinking that maybe it is something in the air...

I wore contact lenses until 1995, and then found that I couldn't wear them anymore because my eyes were too dry. Last year, someone suggested that I give contacts another shot, and I did.

I've been wearing Acuvue Moist daily disposables and they've been great so far. I guess contact lens tech has gone up over the 12 years I took a break from lenses.

I stopped wearing lenses a few years ago due to a reduction in effectiveness and the costs, and losing them at times.
I started with gas permeable but changed to an American brand which let 5-10 times more air to my cornea. These babies could be left in for weeks at a time, but my became less and less comfortable through time. My eyes seemed to want a change.

Switched back to glasses.
Trying for laser in Seoul soon, 900K (both).

I have an aunt who still wears the hard perpex ones, no problems.

You need an eye examination, clear and simple. It sounds like you have a potentially serious problem; it needs to be checked out. I have an extremely difficult (astigmatism and myopia) prescription that only a skilled eye doctor can prescribe correctly (even some American Eye Doctors have botched it). This guy at Samsung is the best at this business
in this country.

Def not jet lag. I was here for over two weeks and had no problems. I took a few days off and just tried to put them in tonight. My eyes felt funny so I took them out. I fu#$ing hate glasses, so this really sucks. Anyone have the telephone number of that good eye doctor over by Samsung? I can't read Korean, so I can't understand that website.
