I'll be finishing my 2nd year in Korea this year, 1st in a school, last year in a hagwon.
I said "never again!" RE hagwons but it seems I'll be moving to Seoul next year and I looked what SMOE is paying and being on my 3rd year and being on like 2 million isn't really an option.
1) Are good paying public school jobs easily available with my amount of experience in Seoul?
2) Do good hagwons exist? I'd maybe contemplate working in one again if I had other foreigners in the hagwon, had good facilities and be on at least 2.3 million.
I'm with EPIK and the school I'm with is OK but I've had massive issues with a co-worker, small holiday time and good old summer and a future winter Englishey Campuh to deal with so I can't say it's been a dream in the public school.
3) What happens if you don't re-sign with EPIK? I think if I re-sign I have to do winter camp but then I can go home for two weeks and start another year so what happens in winter if I don't re-sign? I really want to go home for at least two weeks but is that possible if I don't re-sign?
I presume I'll have to leave and get a new visa along with all the BS but how much time will I get?
Any non cynical comments would be greatly appreciated. |
