leica's S2 is a beast of a camera. 37.5 megapixels, a sensor 56% larger than full frame.
all that ... for only $30,000 ... yep, that's the expected retail price.
nice idea, but not a very practical camera.
oh, and they're only making prime lenses. no zooms. |

The price is not fixed yet, Leica will try to sell the S2 around 10-20000�... to follow the competition. Because, yes, that's the mean price of a Medium Format system.
As for the zooms 
This is not an inconvenient, especially for a MF system (but the lack of manual focus lenses is an inconvenient). |
