You need a "recruitment health exam"in Korean, 채용신체검사서 (chae-yong-shin-che-geom-sa-seo)with the addition of AIDS and TBPE tests, which are not part of the normal battery for this exam.

The normal battery does include chest x-ray, blood pressure, height, weight, cursory hearing test, etc.

Ask for the above at the hospital, and you'll get what you need.

I had one just long ago to have expired (4 months) and now need another. Last time I didn't fast and passed. Most people I know haven't had to fast. Somehow I do.

What's up with these checks? Some people seem to get very basic ones and others get very elaborate checks.

Also, since blood pressure isn't going to indicate a contagious disease, why are they checking it exactly?

Are you told by your school where and when you need to go or do you just sort of find out yourself? Theres nothing in my contract which states the specifics, although when I filled out the self assessment form I think it said something.

You technically have 90 days to get an alien card, so I suppose you'd need to get it done within the first two months. Realistically, if you want a phone or internet or any number of things, you need an alien card, so you'll likely want to get it right away. Your boss may also need the alien card number for pension and stuff sooner.

My last school took us to the hospital and shepherded us around. My present school told me to ask Ben, the last teacher who went, for directions and who neglected to tell me about the fasting. Granted, my school tends to hire people who have been in Korea for awhile, so they assume we can all get around and figure it out. If a newbie needed help, I'm sure they would.

You do need pictures - one or two, I can't recall, your passport, and possibly to have fasted 8 hours. Though that last one seems incredibly odd to me, as no one else I know has fasted nor did I previously. But, if you're going in the morning, maybe just hold off on all food and drink in case.
