I'm looking for short-term housing (somewhere where no key money is required, and I'll probably stay just a month or two). Does anyone know of a spacious goshiwon. I'm mostly concerned with having enough room for me and my luggage. I stayed in a goshiwon before, but it was about the size of a twin bed. Any help would be much appreciated. Anywhere in Seoul would do.

I know of a chain that is pretty cool http://www.cocoresidence.com/ I stayed in the one in shinchon ( Across from Hyundai department store, down a side street) It was comfortable and not too expensive, and clean. If you take this advice be sure to get a room with an outside window versus a hall window. I had to switch from hall window because it was hot as ever.

it is like 350-600 per month depending on the room size and there is no key deposit needed. no curfew and no guest policy that I know of. I know of several people that had them no problem

It is down the alley across ffrom the KFC Shinchon close to hyundai department store. You make the second right once you go down a small hill. There is a small market down the ally to your left under a roof. There should be a small barbuque place to your right. I cant read hangul so I don't know which one it is.

I am not sure what area of Seoul the OP wants -

however Mongchontoseong Station (behind exit 1/2) (Bang-I dong) (just down the road from Jamsil) has 150 small hotels and 150 Korean restuarants..

All the hotels were built (opposite Olympic park) for the 1988 Olympics and
have since been renovated and upgraded every couple of years..

Most Hotels here are only 20,000won ~ 30,000 won per night -

large rooms, your own shower/toilet, very nice with large screen TV (+cable), computers/internet in room, privacy, clean etc etc

Probably would cost you 700,000 won for a month - but you would really enjoy the stay...

(only bad thing - NO laundry/kitchen - but there are many dry-cleaners/Korean restuarants in the neighbourhood)

p.s. - The nightlife here is one of Seouls best kept secrets...

Do the rounds at love hotels and yeogwans. They will often rent by the month. I lived in one for 3 months at 200,000 won per month. No kitchen but i usualy eat out anyway.

Is it kosher with immi if I choose a guesthouse as my residence when I first arrive and then look for housing later? Is this something that must be done thru my employer or can I do it myself? Does this CoCo place offer weekly stays?
