The reason that is happening is because your are behind a firewall. Since I don't know how your computer or internet is set up, this could be a firewall built into a router (if you have one) or a software firewall such as the one included in Windows XP. You will have to make the fire wall allow connections to those ports, or just turn the firewall off all together.
It's pretty difficult to explain to you how to fix this without knowing what your set up is.
The easiest and least stressful way for you to resolve that would be to have a computer literate friend of yours go over to your house and set it up for you, and buy them a case of beer or dinner as thanks. |

Or you can download Utorrent and let it handle it through Upnp. Vuze is garbage anyways. |

I would disagree with it being garbage. I liked it better when it was Azureus, but so far its the best client I've used on my OS (OSX), and also supports downloading by pieces.
Anyways i'm pretty sure it also support uPnP. upnp isn't supported by all routers. |

It works for me. Utorrent is much smaller in footprint resources and its overall a great app.
It also looks like Utorrent went alpha on the mac. So that means that they are working on a decent version for the mac. |

for the mac, check out transmission. Better than VUZE or AZEREUS. much smaller footprint and its actually a decent mac interface.
Well its that or the "alpha" of utorrent thats kicking around and supposed to be decent, |

Last time i checked transmission didn't have the ability to download pieces of a torrent. Sometimes I like to just download pieces of torrents to increase my ratio on private trackers. Also, for my needs transmission seemed pretty craptastic. If you don't use private trackers transmission could be fine, just not for me. |

I always liked using KTorrent because it would let me download certain pieces of a file if I wanted to. Transmission I also liked. |

transmissions allowed individial file selection for quite a while now,
its a totally different beastie to what it was a year or so back when they had those ratio reporting problems.
No problems at all here with private trackers at all, in fact its faster than most things I've tried, and free. Right now it work so no need to change |
