|
|
Just got my first paycheck for a PS and was very surprised by the amount. I don't have my ARC yet, so I guess they can't take out the tax, pension or health insurance yet as those boxes on the pay slip are all blank.
What really confuses me though is that the Gross Pay is more than 300,000 won less than what it should be. My full pay should be 2.2 mill, but the Gross pay is a little over 1.8 mill. There's a calculation at the bottom that says 2.2*25/30. Anyone know what that is?
Then my housing deposit and lunch charge have been taken out of the 1.8 mill. |

Spliff... did you have to spliff the poor guy? It's a logical question as he may be new and doesn't speak Korean.
Where's the love? |

Could it be because you only worked 25 days of the month? |

Sounds like they paid you on the 25th for your pay from the 1st to the 25th.
You'll get the other 2.2*5/25 (25-30 of Sept 2009) when you work the last 5 days of your contract.

Standard practice for public schools is to pay on the 25th for the whole month (in effect, advancing you the last few days' pay).
You've been credited with 25 of 30 days or 5/6 of a month multiplied by 2.2 million = 18.33 mil.
Did you start a week late in september?
They'll take double deductions off your next pay. |

As schwa said, I thought public schools paid on the 25th for the 1st through the end of the month... but I guess SMOE must pay from the 25th to the 25th of the month? I started on Sept 1st, but was originally supposed to be here Aug 25th.
Ok, now I feel like a bit of an idiot. |

Hey chickyabroad, don't feel like an idiot...you didn't know!
As another person mentioned, you should expect that 'missing' money at the end of your contract / beginning of next contract (if you re-sign). I just got it. |

Thanks, but it turns out that they didn't know the orientation was paid by them. So my co-teacher had the accounting office send the rest of the money right away. No problems |
