|
|
First visit to Jeju Island this weekend. Responsibilities to meet Friday night, but have all day Saturday and Sunday: not coming back till Monday morning around 10am. Want to hire a motorbike (not scooter) while I'm there. If you know a good place to hire one please let me know.
Also:
1. Would welcome suggestions for a good place to stay. Places I'm looking at right now are between $65 and $100 a night. If you have any places you suggest I avoid like the plague, will appreciate the advice.
2. Not into old buildings etc., more into nature. Any suggestions on places not to miss while there would be great.
Thanks in advance!

If you go to Udo (and islet off the East coast), you can rent scooters there for a high price.
I've never heard of a motorbike rental place anywhere in Korea except for that or random beach towns (who rent for 30 minute drives, not days).
Get a car, you'll be happier. You can also camp out or sleep in your car for free!
There are some inexpensive yeogwans in Jeju City. Near the ocean wall on the north side there is an old Chinese-looking ship at an intersection. Cheap yeogwans (30,000 to 40,000) are there. |

Thanks Bibbtybop.
Tracked down a guy called Mr. Lee who runs a bike shop close to the airport. He will hire me a Hyosung RX125 SM, 30,000 won for the day. Step down from my Manga Honda 750 but a bikes a bike.
I'll check out the Yeogwans when I get down there. I'm staying at the Shilla Friday night, so I'm in the right location I think to have a look around on Saturday. Will be picking up the bike Friday afternoon so no problems regarding transport.
Thanks again,

As far as I am aware none.
I am fully licensed to ride all classes of motorbike. I also have a valid international drivers license. But Mr. Lee has shown no interest in that, perhaps because in Korea, as far as I am aware, it is the bike that is insured not the rider.

If you're looking for a scooter, you can try Mr Lee's bike shop but otherwise it's almost impossible to rent in Jeju City. Most scooter rental places won't rent to foreigners. Seogwipo is better and you should have no troublefinding a place in Chungmun that can sort you out. |

I rented in Seogwipo without a problem. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the place. You can get that info from the tourist information booth by the falls. The scooter was a piece of **** but it got us around (barely). |
