What are you doing in the states already? Your supposed to be down in the outskirts of Korea searching for woolly monsters. |

If you're living in Kentucky, your cost of living must be pretty low, correct? Even Lousiville isn't that pricey. |

What is her job? If it's low paying too then you can tell her you're equally disappointed in her low pay job because you want a new stereo. |

Yeah, all these people talking about all the wonderful, great paying jobs back in the states has always drawn a chuckle from me. To save what I do in Korea back in the States I would have to make more than twice what I am now. Trouble is that most of the people I know back home are making near what I am now. |

First she was your girlfriend. Then she was your wife. Now she's your girlfriend again. Your life gives me a headache if I think about it too long. I think you are doing it wrong. |

Still, some of us actually do go back to good paying jobs back home. Mine pays a bit more than Korea (adding in free apartment and stuff), but it's Canada, so I lose half of it in taxes! From some of the degrees you guys possess though (after seeing the latest "What degree do you have?" thread), I am not surprised there aren't a lot of high paying jobs in your fields :>) |

Yea, it's tough to get a good job in the US these days. The market is not doing so well. It's been quite rough since about 2001. I would say the best thing for an ex-ESL teacher in Korea to do is get a teaching job, retrain to be a nurse, drive a truck, or start a small business doing something in demand. Skilled trades seem to offer a lot more than a traditional 4 year degree field like finance, business, and other professional fields of study. You can do things like start a BBQ concession with a trailer smoker or start up your practice of doing a skilled trade if you have a skilled trade of some sort. Mine's cooking chow so I might build upon that skill.
I would advise any young American to go into a skilled trade by attending a tech school or engineering school; not traditional 4 year university as the job market no longer supports university graduates. There's many career changers probably more so today than ever in history due to a changing job market rife with business corruption, nepotism, and downturn.
Good luck to you. Maybe you should come back to Korea for a PS job and save up $15,000 in a year. That's what I'm doing. |

A fifth grader said this yesterday (to himself but I heard him). |

You could explain that she should be happy that you have a job (with the economy the way it is or the number of jobs the market seems to lose on a monthly basis), a little cash in you pocket.
Is she working? |

on days like these...when the kids are testing all morning and i have ample time to waste by reading dave's....the smile of seeing a post by kentucker was short lived by the relative normalcy of the post
OP- please oblige by making a completely ludicrous/entertaining post to get me through the day!! |

Korean women are genetically pre-programmed to complain about money. Otherwise, they don't believe they are doing their best for you and their family's future financial security. Don't expect this to end anytime soon, regardless of how your fortunes may improve. Either accept this, or find another woman (of another nationality). |
