Does it ever get any easier? Jeez. I spent about 2-hours last night in one of our local 'still writhing' Octopus joints grazing on a choice selection of Korea's finest bottom-feeders with my CT homies when, and after having assumed the position for the best part of an hour, I tried to stand up on my deadend legs and very nearly collapsed in a heap all over the VP.

I'm guessing that I probably need to work on my femoral flexibility, but are there any ways of making sitting cross-legged more comfortable?

Do it more often. It makes the short bits (tendons, ligaments and muscles) longer.

imo, it doesn't get any easier on the legs or back. not to mention you end up spilling shit all over yourself because it's impossible to get your mouth near the bowl! having your hands on the floor also defeats the purpose of washing them beforehand. chairs FTW!

Ask for a chair and table and if they ask why say 'superior cultures must lord it over the uncivilized'. Then clap your hands and order the nearest ajumma to polish your shoes.

I'm taking it you're a newbie and didn't already know this?

Seriously though, sitting cross-legged can't be good for varicose veins.

Every ache in your back is an indication of muscular imbalance: some too tight, others too weak.

Keep at it. It'll get easier if you hang tough. Introduce stretching into your health program.

It was really tough for me at first. Now I can do it for hours and it's more comfortable than sitting in a chair.

I was my gf and her family & friends. They were laughing because I couldn't sit cross-legged for long. I explained (with tongue in cheek), that back home animals and kids sit on the floor, whilst adults sit on chairs.

I'm super flexible and do yoga three times a week yet sitting on the floor still drives me crazy. Damn it's uncomfortable. I always grab a place near the wall so I can lean up against it.

Also rolling the sitting mat up and putting it directly under your butt can help too. Also drinking a lot will make the pain go away. Laughing

If you wanna walk like the halmonies and harabojies when you go on retirement, keep sitting like that .....

NO, thank you.

Hahaha. Sitting cross-legged will give you a hunchback. Good one.

I had a good laugh with this, it happened to me just last night trying to get at my noodles.

I ususally grab an extra cushion to put just in front of me for my ankles since they'll start to ache from leaning into the table to try to get close.

I am sitting cross-legged right now. On a chair. It really amazes me how some people find this position uncomfortable... I find it quite nice.
