| I got a 67" Samsung DLP (1080p). It's not a flat screen, but even so, it's awesome. Great with a PS3. Why do anything half assed, go all out. |

It's 1080i |
True 1080i and 1080p don't look noticeably different. Still the same number of lines of resolution.
The confusing thing that gets people is that nearly all TVs sold as 1080i are only capable of accepting a 1080i signal, and scaling it down to 1366x768. That is not 1080i resolution -- that's 768p resolution.
A true 1080i signal is 1920x1080, just like a 1080p signal.
The differences can be seen in quicker movement. |

I think what he means is that it is likely a rear projection. |

DLP is going the way of the dinosaur in the home theater world with the exception of projectors. I used to like rear-projection DLP TVs until I saw what else was out there.
I hear LCD has the disadvantage of being too bright to see for a long time, but that plasma is on its way out, too. I was eyeing a Samsung Cannes 50-inch full HD plasma because it goes for around 2 million won now, but I'm thinking perhaps I should consider the new LG LCD models coming out now. |

We looked at a boat load of televisions before deciding on an LG Xcanvas 42" Full HD PDP. The colors (in my opinion and based on store set up) looked better on the PDP than they did on the LCD.
My only fear was that the PS3 would leave a burn in on the screen. Well, from what I learned, burn ins just are not that common any more. Prior to my tv shutting down, it flashes the screen to a complete black for less than a second. When it turns on, it does the same. That seems to correct any screen memory from playing MLB 08 which leaves the score on the same spot on the screen.
I also lowered all of the settings for the first 3 months. That was based on something I read on Crutchfield.com.

I agree, the picture on Plasma's are generally superior to an LCD. |

When I had my first LCD, I was getting headaches. I had to drop the brightness down considerably, then I was fine. |

When I had my first LCD, I was getting headaches. I had to drop the brightness down considerably, then I was fine. |
When I got mine, they had it set on the most obnoxious 'dynamic' pre-set setting where everything was was too bright, colors oversaturated, and major edge detection on every object. They have it like that in the store to make it look good in a big setting. I toned it down bigtime within the first 5 min of having it. I run mine mostly on the 'movie' pre-set. |

How much for the LG? I'm thinking of getting a 50-inch Samsung Cannes plasma because it's full HD and around 2 million won. |

| We paid about 1,500,000 if memory serves me correctly. We bought it at Costco. It was on sale. I think it was 1.85 originally. But, we live more than an hour from the nearest Costco and that price included delivery, a wall mounting bracket, and installation. |
