over the summer I noticed a couple teachers wearing shorts/t-shirt/flip flops in their hagwons so I suppose it`s anything goes for hagwons? Well the ones I saw anyway
I haven`t worked PS but I`m assuming you have to wear a shirt/tie?
Is their a strict dress code at your hagwon/PS? |

Following the lead of the Korean teachers of your sex is the best way to go. At mine a collared shirt and trousers (no jeans) is usually fine unless there's a special event, assembly, or meeting.
At some hagwons teachers are required to dress formally but at most children's hagwons casual is fine. When I worked hagwon I started dressing like a complete slob just to piss off the boss. I couldn't imagine dressing that way in the vicinity of my current school, much less at it. |

My PS has no dress code,
Although almost all teachers wear shirt, tie, and dresspants.
I heard the teacher before me wore casual stuff, I'm tempted but I'd rather not risk the principal calling me out on it.
Besides, I'd prefer to look pimped out for the 40 year old ladies at my school. I'm like the fabio over here. |

It varies a lot depending on what we are doing.
I seldom wear Jeans and only wear shorts during summer camp.
I usually wear a button down shirt and pants but if there is nothing special happening I can wear jeans (black or blue) and a golf shirt without comment from anyone.
If the school is expecting guests then pants/shirt and, depending on who the guests are, a tie. For special events I wear a suit.
I also have a school track suit for outdoor activities (they bought them for all the staff).

Hagwon: Sandles, shorts, tshirt. As well dressed as the boss.
PS: I started in jeans and shirts. I then followed the lead of the PE teachers and started wearing polo shirts fairly often. Today is my first day in a proper shirt for a few weeks. In winter I wore jeans and a leather jacket. Besides the PE teachers I am fairly low on the dress scale here, but a few of the young male teachers are wearing jeans. (I am 44 so not in their demographic).
Female K teachers: well their dress code is very different, but with an equal spread from casual to fairly formal.

Many of the teachers wear t-shirts and jeans at my PS...they're older people too!
I can in with a T-shirt and jeans and they'll compliment my outfit, so I guess it's good...granted I tend to come in over dressed for the job(really nice shirts, pants, sometimes a suit and tie). |

The adjummas wear purple and pink flowery shirts with spandex jeans.
The few men wear dress pants and dress shirt.
The younger female Korean teachers wear jeans, to dresses/skirts and slacks. I usually am dressed to the nines just because I want to out-do everyone with a level of professionalism. Sometimes I will wear jeans and a nice shirt if I want to be casual. |

I wear a button-down shirt, tie, dress pants and dress shoes every day. Sometimes I wear a suit. I never wear jeans or polo shirts. |

In the elementary dept of the hagwon I work in, the teachers were wearing shorts and sandles during the summer. We (middle school) got told it was a big no-no. I usually wear jeans, trainers, and a short-sleeve shirt. T-shirts are fine though.

when I started I was wearing khakis and collared shirts. I wear brown gym shoes but shoes don't matter because in my PS you take them off and wear those sandals anyways.
I was told I can wear jeans and even a t-shirt and when it got warm/hot I did that... now as it cools down, I'll probably go back to khakis and occasional jeans to a collared shirt. nothing fancy.
my fellow Korean teachers? well runs the gamut, but males tend to wear dress pants and collared shirt.. no t-shirt and no jeans.. the females, some do wear jeans.. but never a t-shirt.
obviously shorts and or flip flops would be a no no.. (though aren't those inside sandals essentially such?)
I've worn shorts on outside/casual stuff and when coming back to school to pick something up.. for e.g. returning from Orientation, I have no prob strolling in wearing shorts if I'm not working/teaching that day. |

Dress code? What is that? LOL
It's more about your human relationships and your teaching than it is about what you look like. I wear Dockers and button down shirts most of the time, but jeans on occasion with no problems. No suits, ties, and hard shoes. Only principals and business people wear that career garb.
I, like all others, wore shorts during Summer camps. It's not a problem as long as you are on time, make an effort to teach, and be positive in your interactions with people, including students and adults. |

I also show up to work dressed smartly to impress my boss. The second I close the door to my classroom though I slip a pair size 48" white underwear (briefs of course) over the outside of my dress pants. The kids love it and I kinda dig the nickname "pantyman." |
