|
|
Hey,
So, like I've said before, I've quit my job (visa is cancelled, etc), but haven't been paid by my employer.
I still have the apartment key because she hasn't paid me, and I'm holding on to it because I'm dragging her through the labor board, and I expect a court date soon. Should I keep the key until I get a court date letter (then go to her office and slip it under the door)? Or do I give it back asap?
The advantage of keeping the key is that it gives her an excuse to just f'ing pay me (there's a company that was hired to take over her school, and they want that apartment, so it puts pressure on her).
The advantage of giving it back is that my contract and visa are completely finished, and other than the asset value I don't have any right to the apartment. |

Talk about awesome power. You are wielding it. You should be able to get exactly what you want, thanks to your possessing that little key.
Having this key on you means nothing. They can, and will, just go around you by making a new key and moving their latest warm body into your old digs. If you do get what you want, it's because an SK who matters has decided to do the right thing. It won't be because of your awesome power. |

The key is meaningless. They will have another one and for 25k won they can replace the lock (slightly inconvenient but much cheaper than paying you).

I know that, but whatever helps ya know? I'm aware that they'll go around it, but I'm more concerned with the legality of it and how it'll look if we go to court. |

Giving it back allows you one more face to face meeting to have some last words. |

I would give it back. Like someone said, they can swap the lock in twenty minutes and the labor board would have no reason to look favorably on you for holding the key. |

No offence, but the OP sounds like a complete tosser. Keeping a key? Who cares? File your complaint and move on. These childish antics serve no other purpose than they demonstrate to them why they dont' want anythign to do with you.

Are you for real? Just return the key, then you can show that you obeyed the rules etc and can rest easy.
In future may I suggest using your brain |
