I never heard of Korean selling or taking drugs here in Korea. Never heard of it. Even when I go into such a big clubs here, I never seen anybody taking drugs. It really fascinate me, how they live here without drugs at all. Do they just drink when they want to please themselves?

Don't you know?

My impression is you would be in a better position to figure this out than us foreigners.

Oh, and just for your information, I've never seen any American selling or taking drugs.

I understand there's some form of meth and that they used to smoke pot before America came 50 years ago. I wouldn't do their meth if they did offer it to foreigners because it'll blow your heart and make you get old quick. Drinking crap alcohol is what fancies Korea today for the most part nor do I want anything with that either as it's not pure clean ethanol booze, but has many impurities such as methanol from a crap brewing process. They seem to have a very boring lifestyle and culture, but it keeps the violent crime rate low by not having drugs and all the trappings existing in many other countries. No drug dealers and broke jonzing users to rob you here. Koreans are not angels and may do illegal things, but they are discreet and don't usually include foreigners.

If you're a single guy wanting to socialize, party, and get high, Korea is not the funnest place, but if you're looking to settle down then Korea might be a good place to stay long term.

Recently, I was told that the Korean term for the plant which we know as cannabis is, in Korean, 대마초. I would like to know when this plant was introduced. Imagined, it would have been along with Buddhism several centuries ago. I entered the term into the Naver search engine, and was shown the Chinese characters which signify each of the syllables. 대 was, typically, 大, signifying great, 초 was 草, grass, and the syllable in the middle 마 was 麻. This character I entered into an online Chinese character dictionary, and found it to be pictograph signifying two hemp plants drying in a shed. Now, this got me thinking. I've heard so much
speculation that Koreans are naive to the supposed harmlessness of marijuana, figuring it to be a dangerous drug. Yet, there encoded in an ancient orthograph a picture of the very thing. The Koreans, with their tradition of natural medicine, must know something particular of that plant's ingestive effect, something that many drug addled westerners do not.[/i]

I actually came across a couple of plants one day while out hiking. My buddy came across several dozen out on an island one day as well. So it's here.

They take lots of doctor prescribed sedatives.

You can too...just walk in the doctor's office, tell them you've been under a lot of stress and that you can't sleep, and see what happens.

SOJU!

I think America destroyed all recreational use of all drugs...

Cocaine, LSD, Marijuana, ecstasy, hash etc... Was all legal before America decided to ban them all... and then flood the world with propaganda...

Man in the past it was legal, they have drug rooms, drug clubs, drug parties etc... CHIT America even banned booze!!
Hahahahaha
So now its TABOO to smoke even some ERB!

But the war on drugs which costs 18 billion dollars a year hasnt changed anything...

Most bans were based on prejudice and racism anyway

Hahaha.
Someone's been keeping secrets from you.

Meth is a very serious problem here. It's called Pillopone. Koreans deal it, and use it... mostly drivers and shift workers. The mob deals it in Korean-style-hardcore-shit-candy-techno-nightclubs.
Counterfeit pharmaceuticals from China are also a big hit. I know a few men who take counterfeit Viagra just for shits and giggles.

Everytime I go to a club I get asked by Koreans where to get pot.

It's there, but it's socially taboo, and the legal penalty MYTHS are too extreme. You have to know some shifty people.

As i said, it's there. I know 3 Koreans who have taken it. I was with them. They just felt sleepy. I took one too, and while it wasn't the cleanest buzz, there was definitely some MDMA in it.
Anyway, they thought that's how it affects them and they won't try it again.

At 50,000 a pop, i won't either.

dude! I have been here since 1997 and its been here all the time Ive been here.. there are heaps of it around especially in hongdae. of course its foreigners and kyopos who supply it, many small edm clubs back in 2002-2003 were full of pill popping koreans, but becuase the scene is so small it only takes one korean user to get caught to rat everyone out.. so wait until the next foreigner with balls to bring in a few thousand pills and feed the scene. you just need to be in the know..
and this cycle will continue for EVER and EVER until the governments legalize and control it.. but what you find is that its not worth the risk! the scene is to small here, and to many narks out there ...
follow the news, foreigners are always getting busted for drugs..
and what are they doing? just trying to put some smiles on the faces of people..
god damn you america!!!!
