The new ipod nanos are now here. Seen in Coex and Yongsan. No new Touch models yet though. I thought they would ship together but looks like I'll have to wait a little longer.

I saw the new iPods at Costco on Friday. They had the new nanos, the new 120gb Classic, and they also had the Touch (don't know if it was new or not, but it was priced 229,000 won.)

Enjoy your D2. (And try not to think about all the functionality you're missing out on due to your irrational hatred of Apple.)

My first com was an apple, back in 1990. Still have it to, but never use it as the screen is way too small. I don't hate apple, just don't feel the need to shell out for there outrageous prices.

If you only intend to use it as an mp3 player, then the Touch is overpriced, true. That, of course, is overlooking the nearly limitless features it has that people like myself use almost every day.

The book reader app I use has saved me literally hundreds of dollars already. (This app alone is worth the extra money over the D2.)

The New York Times app means I don't need to buy the IHT, nor do I need to sit in front of my computer to get decent news. (Hard to quantify how much this is worth in money, but as part of the overall package it is certainly worth the money imo.)

There is the Simplify app that lets you stream music from your computer to the Touch over the internet. (Access to your entire music library on the go? I'd say that's worth some money.)

There's the Remote app that lets you use the Touch as a remote control to play the media on your computer. (Not having to get up from the couch to switch songs/pause/raise or lower the volume...definitely worth something.)

I could go on, but I guess I really don't see the point. It's evident that we disagree on the cost/benefit analysis and you're happy with what you've bought, whereas I see the extra 100,000 won (over the price you paid for your D2) as very little money to pay for the extra features of the Touch.

Damn Thundarr. Your single post has made me go from complete indifference towards the Touch , to 'I can not possibly live without it'.

Luckily I'm so impressionable that Spliff may just change my mind with his next post (please).

they are here now. i got mine on wednesday. it's an amazing bit of kit.

the new ones have a volume button on the outside, thats the easiest way to tell them apart. I think the only difference beside the external volume controls is an internal speaker. they are great additions though.

I think the old ones come in a black box with John Lennon on the cover, the new ones are in a clear plastic case.
If you go to one of the apple stores, I have only seen the new versions there, looks like they have stopped selling older versions. I would imagine in Yongsan they still stock both kinds.

I'm in the market for a new mp3/mp4 player. From the reviews that I have read on a couple of sites it seems it is hard to look too far past the touch as an all rounder. Would anybody be able to recommend any other brands to consider; YEPP, Sony, Creative Zen etc
Spliff mentioned something about paying over the odds for the Apple brand.
My basic spec includes; 16gb+, 2.5" screen, good playback (maybe 5+ hours video)
Also, would it be worth trying to get a decent discount on the older touch model - if the increases in spec aren't that significant
Any thoughts would be appreciated...
