This is very impressive. The rest of your lifts aren't especially so, even allowing for your bodyweight. |

I agree, I'm taking it low and slow, and my lifts are beginner lifts. I've been doing push-ups a long time so I'm used to that. I'm a skinny guy looking to progress properly. Today I had 3 prs.in the squat/deadlift/(overhead) press.
However, I really have to disagree about going below parallel.
I'm doing Zercher squats because there is no power rack. On every squat I lower the bar to touch my thighs. I think the key is warming up. If you warm up, doing 2 sets with just an empty bar (20 kilos), then gradually work up to your squats, working on form as you do 30, 50, 55 kilos for 2 or 3 reps you can go below parallel safely. I'm got up to 65kg x5 on my zercher squats today (I know it's fairly pathetic), and I was happy with that.
Warming up doesn't just get you ready to lift. It's practice on your form. |
