I agree with Jack Cafferty 100%...and more people need to hear this clip and other things that Palin says, so they know how ill-informed she is on very basic elementary issues.
That is also the reason McCain and the Republicans in power does not let her speak whatsoever either.
Here is another one: http://kr.youtube.com/watch?v=8Vh6WDmb-Rc&feature=user of her speaking about Alaska's proximity to Russia and what makes her an expert on foreign policy. She sounds just as ridiculous in this clip as the other. |

I suspect the VP debates are going to be rather entertaining
There's a great Balkan saying: "Bull*beep* has short legs"
McCain has brought this one on the Repubs.
On the upside, I'm sure she could easily wrangle a Playboy spread.

I don't think she's an idiot. She's just wholly unqualified for VP and that's McCain's fault. |

No, she is an idiot. She wasn't even a community college prodigy. It isn't that she doesn't grasp the main issues, it is that she can't.

Frankly, Ive come to think, post-Kissinger, post-Katie-Couric, that Palins nomination isnt just an insult to the women (and men) of America. Its an act of cruelty toward her as well. |
I agree.
She is also a total liar:

By now, the pattern is familiar. Palin responds to a question she fears reveals something she wants to conceal and lies:
COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?
PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We -- we do -- it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where -- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is -- from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there.
There is no evidence of her conducting any trade missions with Russia:
I spent some time on the Governor's Web site seeking more details about her trade negotiations with Russia. There's a press release about Gov. Palin's meeting with a trade mission from the Yukon, but nothing about Russia anywhere in the archives.
And the second pattern: a refusal to respond to the press seeking factual information:
When asked for examples of trade missions with Russia that have taken place under Palin's watch, gubernatorial spokeswoman Kate Morgan refused to answer the question. Morgan said she could not legally discuss any trade missions with me because she's a state employee and I had first heard this claim through the Couric interview, which was part of Palin's campaign for the vice-presidency. |

Actually I just mentioned to someone that with McCain's choice becoming the slow-motion disaster we all knew it would...after that first blush of "Doesn't she look good!!" is over and we're asking ourselves "Where's the meat?", I have to wonder if McCain's secretly a Democratic mole.
Again, I don't think she's an idiot, but she is completely out of her depth and she's getting barbequed. Perhaps after 15-20 more years of serious political experience/homework to do......
The smarter thing to do would have been to A) realized she's not ready to swim in the deep end, and B) decline the offer, with an eye to the future after she's earned her chops..... |

I'm going to dissent slightly from the conventional wisdon here and say that her response on the bailouts wasn't TOTALLY incomprehensible. I was able to make out that, contra Couric, she thinks the bailout will help average Americans economically, and that it should be seen as part of a broader effort to improve the economy.
However, it was also apparent that when she was discussing the broader economy, it was basically as an excuse to avoid addressing the bailout specifically. And also that she was repeating a bunch of catchphrases that she had filed away in her mind under the heading "stuff to say when asked about the economy". |
