Anyone know if this camera is available in Seoul?
or when it will be available?
at what price?
This camera has been out, EU and State side, for sometime now, the last heads up I got was that this camera will see a 2008.9.19 release here.

no official price list has been released yet. and there's no listing for the D90 on nikon's korea site.
so it's just a waiting game, for those who want the camera ... |

it is listed in their store just takes some finding.
I has 6 tabs of various details about it. on the 2nd tab, near the the top is say "D90 New 2008.9.19 Coming Soon"
but still don't know what to think... everyone seems to be in the dark, i asked @ yongsan and namdaemun about 2 weeks ago and many people seemed to be oblivious of the D90s existence... and its release...
Really want the camera!
I noticed today Gmarket has listing for 1.6 mil 18-105KIT which is close to the US RRP of $1300 |

Just buy the body only. If you can get it from the US, do so. They go for about 999US. Spend the other 400 on a better lens.
If you have the money, buy a Canon 5D Mark II when it comes out. It's getting amazing reviews. SMRP ~2700US. And you can mount Nikon lenses on it with a special mount converter (about 20US). Old, and non-Canon lenses will meter, and you'll be able to record video with them (unlike the D90).
I heard rumors that The Corpse Bride was shot using a Nikon lens mounted on a Canon DSLR. |

Those two cameras have a huge price difference. Anyways, you can grab the D90 body for about 1,150,000 won. It only came out in Korea on Sept. 19th, so give it until December and the prices may drop 100,000 won or so. |

There is a price difference, and for a good reason. The D90 can only record 5 minutes of video. The 5D MKII can record up to a half hour, it's a full frame sensor, and it's a sturdy, weather sealed body. Plus it'll meter just about any lens you can mount on it. |

as of today, best prices are:
D90 gray market - 979,000 won
D90 gray market - 1,580,000 (with 18-105mm VR lens)
D90 gray market - 1,150,000 (with 18-55mm VR lens)
the original import D90 with 18-105mm VR seems to be about the same price as the gray market. so if you want original import gear, that might be worth investigating further.
generally though, gray market is about 150,000 won cheaper.

A Mercedes Benz is better than a Chevy Cavalier as well, but just because it's better doesn't justify spending the extra cash. |

yes, it does ... gray market is available on most electronic goods. you gotta look around though ... compare prices. |

I don't know if buying a DSLR for its movie taking abilities is a good idea. Even Canon USM lenses do have some sound. I have a Canon DSLR with Canon and Sigma lenses, and I wouldn't dream of using for movies. I also have a JVC camcorder, HD, hard drive, that's really convenient.
SeoulnPepe posted that it's worth an extra $1700 for a DSLR that can shoot good video. I think it's better to buy a thousand dollar DSLR and a seventeen hundred dollar video camera.
In my opinion:
DSLR: Only for photos.
Camcorder: Only for videos.
Digital Cameras: Decent combination, much better for photos, good for an unplanned day trip or a night out.
Camcorders with photo capabilities: Not there yet.
DSLR's with video capabilities: Not there yet.
Yeah, it'd be fun if I could shoot video with my wide angle lens, but it's not worth the price yet. I don't want my videos full of 'err, err, err' sounds of the lens focusing. In a few years it'll be better, but not yet.
(Though, I must admit that I'm biased--much more interested in photos than video--I use my DSLR in a month as often as I use my video camera in a year.)
Also, if this is your first DSLR, buy relatively cheap and try it out, discover what's important to you. I was actually quite shocked a year ago when I bought my first how my old shooting habits changed substantially once I discovered the possibilities with a DSLR.

I don't hear any "err," "err" in his video, but that's because of the music. So you may be correct--but you can always get an adapter and use a manual focus lens. You can't mount a manual focus lens on the D90 in video mode.
