Bob Cole, yes, but he probably should have stopped about 5 years ago.

How about Jow Bowen and Harry Neale as the worst announcers ever.

Bob Cole? Bob friggin' Cole? The guy can't even remember the players' names: "...and Messier dumps the puck in, Chelios and...and... number 16 for the Oilers are in a foot-race...", and he always embellishes the mundane plays: "...a sixty footer floats in on ... on... the goaltender, and Oh! What a game-saver!!!"

How about Dick Irvin (Jr)? Dick Irvin was the voice of hockey as far as I'm concerned, and being from Montreal, he'd always do the play-by-play forn the radio. He was so good, we'd turn down the sound on the tv and listen to him call the game on the radio.

What used to really hurt was when the Leafs were eliminated, we'd sometimes get Hab games called by Bob Cole. Urgh! Bring out the radio!

Typical Habs fan. Dick Irvin is terrible....that nasal voice. There was nothing I hated more than when I was growing up and HNIC was a Hartford vs Montreal barn burner with Dick Irvin and Harry Neale.

I am a fan of John Barbaro who does Pittsburgh Penguin games. "He beat him like a rented mule" classic.

John McEnroe for tennis: I don't even have to watch, just listen, when he's doing a match. Articulate, knowledgeable, interesting, lighthearted with a good sense of humour and a thousand anecdotes and interview nuggets: he knows everybody and everything about the sport, and doesn't tote the line, states what he thinks, not a shockjock just refreshingly honest and candid.

The sport is not the same without his voice.

Here! Here!

Wimbeldon was fantastic when he played and is fantastic to watch when he's comentating.

Wonder if you can name the sports for these two (without Googling.)

Murray Walker and Harry Carpenter...might be an English thing.

i was able to get a bbc video feed during wimbledon, he works for them when hes not needed on nbc which means the first week hes there. he is simply fantastic. him and boris becker doing color were awesome.heck he knows enough about the womens game to do that, same with mary carrillo she and mac were childhood friends and they work great

frank and al for mnf? frank gifford should of been put out to pasture in say 1980.

cossell on boxing was the best, no one has ever come close to him.

try and get an audio feed of brad sham doing a cowboy game, you'll love it

Vin Scully and Mel Allen are the standard for baseball announcers. No one else going to mention Johnny Most for basketball? I'll put him second to Chick Hearn. Worst- Joe Garagiola and Dick Vitale.

Don Chevrier.

Covered over twenty sports in his day. Early voice of the Blue Jays. Fine boxing commentator. Made curling interesting for NBC.

Man oh man do I dislike Dirk Irvin. Can't stand to listen to his voice.

I actually like that young-ish guy (compared to the dinosaurs we're discussing) that did/does West Coast games and has also filled in a lot for Bob Cole. Can't think of his name. I think he was fired during the strike, but then brought back. Not the "That's Hockey!!" guy, but the brown haired guy.

Anyone know his name? Chris something? Chris Cuthbert maybe.... No... I don't know.

Gary Thorne called a mean hockey game! His voice can now be heard on Nhl2k9.

If I close my eyes while I'm tired, it's like a sweet lullaby.
