I just tried Windows Vista on my new laptop. Besides slicker graphical icons and elements I don't notice that much of a difference between Vista and XP.

I like Vista, but the fact that it's using up a lot of RAM makes me want to go back to XP. So, am I missing something?

IMHO, an operating should provide a seamless experience. It's the programs that you should be working with. Vista is pretty seamless, though I've only used my laptop twice and had to install updates both those times.

"Yay, I bought a new laptop"

"What does it do?"

"It's able to run an operating system."
