A very famous Korean middle-aged actress, Choi Jin-Shil, committed suicide today according to the media. She hanged herself on a shower pole. It seems like she was having some sort of depression and was extremely stressed over the false rumor that she was somehow responsible for the death of Ahn Jae-Hwan, who also committed suicide last month. Now people are starting to talk more gossip about whether both incidents were actually suicide and how much of this was caused by netizens.

An hero?

My coworkers were talking about it this morning. I think I should have *feigned* more interest, but I have a cold and I rarely find celebrities interesting.

It takes more courage to face up to your problems and not off yourself.

Oh, this is what all the sadness is about. My 6th graders this morning acted like the most saddest depressed people on Earth. They were awfully negative and disappointing this morning. They wouldn't listen and just talked much more than usual. I felt it was a lost cause. They didn't try to say anything in English nor give one gram of participation.

These sorts of things don't effect the youngsters as they are not so tuned into news and what's going on in Korean culture.

Alright, now the important thing is: "Who can we blame for this suicide and shame them to the edge of suicide themselves?"

Rich people who commit suicide deserve a special place in hell.

Yes, rich people will commit suicide if they lose their fortunes to economic collapse, but this is not what's going on.

^ Suicide rates are always higher in rich industrialized nations. People living in poverty in 3rd world countries rarely take their own lifes and indeed many top polls (ie The Philippines) for being 'happy' with their lot.

I couldn't care less about celebrities. Did anyone catch that South Park episode with Britney Spears? Classic. Sums up my feelings pretty well.

I don't see the relation to rich industrialized countries.

Maybe most people in poor countries die of starvation long before they can ever give a thought to suicide.

Your conclusion really doesn't pan out.
