|

Hi everyone ^^
I'm in my final 3 weeks of masters studies (finally) and I'd really like to find a university position, preferably in Seoul. I see some listed on Dave's already - to begin in March 09..
I just wonder whether there is a season for university offers or do they just trickle in throughout the year? getting itchy feet but I don't want to jump at the first opportunity, you see ^^ ..
any advice would be great.
Thanks! |

Since the Korean school year starts in March, the main hiring season has been November-December. It looks like it's starting a bit earlier this year, perhaps because of the increased preparation time required because of the criminal background check.
The second main season is for the fall semester (September start) and is generally April-June.
But there can be jobs popping up at any time throughout the year. |

I cannot stress how important it is to do more than just search the ads on job boards. You should google a list of all Korean unis, and use the links to look at the English side of their web pages. They often post jobs on there, and never buy space for a job ad. It's time consuming, but can pay off. Last time I checked, I found 5 job openings I hadn't heard of elsewhere.

Thanks for the useful advice, i'll keep my eye out
Also, after seeing some of the jobs advertised, they ask for a copy of your original degree - what happens if I havn't had my graduation ceremony yet.. and hence I have no degree to copy.
Would they accept a copy of your transcripts and a letter from the university for the mean time? |

They'll probably want it if they get serious. Just send them a copy to start with.
When do you get your real degree?
By the way, if you're not here meeting them in person, you've got a snowball's chance in heck of being hired. |
