A friend and I were discussing how dissatisfied we are with the general church atmosphere in Korea (and around the world, really). We're both Christian, but uncomfortable with churches here.

We are especially unhappy with the emphasis put on giving money, the rich pastors who seem to crave attention and are treated like kings, the obsession with weirdness and weird acts attempting to "save" people. We're sick of the "showyness" of it all, and just want to help others.

We just want to start a club where people can come and just help poor people silently. Maybe it's poor people begging. Maybe the poor people we help would be neighbors we know. Whatever. We'd figure it out in the group and make plans to help.

What we thought we'd do is just meet up with other people -- religious or not -- at somewhere like Seoul Station. We'd have coffee, make plans on where to go, and quietly walk around providing food, clothing, or warm blankets for those in need. People could file off into their own small groups, or by themselves to help the poor in an area. We wouldn't even need to call our group a name.

It wouldn't be a club associated with a church or religion. No preaching would take place. No prayer would happen or anything like that (anyone attempting to recruit for a church would kindly be asked to leave). It'd just be a chance for interested people to help the poor. That's it. You pay nothing except what you give to the poor.

We'd share ideas on what people in an area might need, what people we should probably avoid (those scamming for the mafia, or wanting booze money) etc..

Just help. That's it. If you spend $5 during the day, it's enough. If you spend $50 -- good on you. Nobody will keep tabs. You could be in and out of there in under an hour -- even less.

Anyone interested in joining?

I already do it - but sometimes being an "Angel" is not always good...

sometimes Angels help people - and the people don't even realise (know) that the Angel helped them....

so because they don't know - they never say "Thank you" to the Angel...

and those people who you just helped keep on acting like fools...

so in the end - sometimes the Angel thinks all their hard "caring acts" are wasted...

so being an Angel is not all its cut out to be - nobody ever says "Thank you" to you.... and some people just don't deserve to be helped....
