Many younger Democrats have a way of being offensive and wrong-headed about things. Can the guy from Superbad thing of anything funny other than swearing? The party seems to draw a lot more from the young and immature.

Here's something a little more fun, if you haven't seen it already.

it's a wrongheaded approach if you consider that most people who would consider voting for george burns and miss moose congeniality can't process comedy and sarcasm.

it hits the right market. young kids who are apathetic about voting. they're generally people who don't think potty talk makes baby jesus bleed from his anus.

I'm not a Republican.

You don't think that video condescends to young Americans? Oh, wait. I could see how a Canadian leftist wouldn't think it does.

At least they're pretending to try and be non-partisan.

Sure. I especially liked "I forbid you to vote," incidentally.

wrong. it's not elitism to be frustrated with the apathy of the electorate.

the US has the most rabid rhetoric about how awesome their democracy is, but so few americans seem to want to use it. what was the voter turnout at the last election?

it was pathetic, and getting frustrated with that is not a liberal vs. conservative thing. it's basic adherence to democratic values, a mantra recited by any chest-thumping american politician. it's BS until the other 40-50% or so get off their ass, XBOX or whatever distraction keeps them from participating.

i'm curious to see how many people who don't vote also yell loud and hard about how awesome a democracy they live in. impossible to get such a statistic, but i'm pretty certain they exist. and it's A-O-K to condescend to someone like that.

"So few," "pathetic," etc. Liberal hyperbolic handwringing at its best.

Quote:
More than 125 million Americans -- 64 percent of those ages 18 and older -- went to the polls in last year's presidential election, according to data scheduled to be released today by the Census Bureau...

Washington Post

And yes, I find it despicable that Hollywood elites would condescend to and generally attempt to shame younger Americans into voting (and voting as these elites want them to vote, it goes without saying).

64% is still pretty weak in a country that talks so much smack about how awesome its democracy is. maybe my statistic was from the previous election - which i believe hovered around 50%.

i stand by the idea that the apathetic deserve to be smacked around a bit, either verbally or in that sort of "gilligan!" hat-on-top-of-the-head way.

i think there was a lot of valuable information in that video, and directing it in a "it's so easy, douchebag - why don't you DO IT?" way is totally fair, given the amount of people that will have sand in their vagina if that lying sack of shit mccain wins.

Re: "deserve to be smacked around," "douchebags," "vaginas," and "that lying sack of shit McCain."

Look everyone: another rabid poster who hates an essentialized version of America that he carries around in his head and who also has reduced "democracy" to voter-participation in presidential elections.
