Im attempting to get everything in order as i anticipate to come to Korea during november. My only roadblock is getting the police check, as it appears living in Toronto makes this extra hard to come by. Ive exhausted many options such as other police services and so am seeking advice from others that may have come across this. It would just seem to me that a vulnerable sector search would automatically be included in a CRC.

Just go to the local cop shop. Tell them you need a CRC section for getting a job in Peel School Board and the check they do will cover you for Korea too. Best of luck.

It's not hard at all, but you have to visit the main police station on College Street. It's 47.25 for a VSS, compared with just 25.25 for a regular check (which is what I got done in July and was fine after I had it verified by the Canaidan Embassy, but perhaps the rules have changed since then - I haven't been paying attention.)

Apparently in order to get the vulnerable check, you need to have an agency or employer sign the form, which doesnt really work for me as i want to have everything in order. This is what ive been told at the college station, i also called york and durham and they no longer do checks for non residents. Ill check into peel, thanks for the info.

OP, you are correct, it is impossible for you to get a criminal record check with VSS from the TO police department unless the company you work or will work for has signed up with the PD and can process it for you.

That said, there is a company called the commissionnaires.

They can do it for you no problem.
