I tried for three hours to both call and send an email to my Representative in congress and it said the server was unavailable. Any one else tried? I also tried other reps from other places I lived, and no luck there as well. Are they blocking contacts from outside of the US or do they not want to hear from their constituents? |

The reason you can't get thru to Congress is because the workers (who still have jobs) on Wall Street have been ordered to stop calling investors and call DC instead. And that's what they get paid for, make phone calls all day long.
You can imagine what they're saying. Instead of the initial 20-1 calls against the bailout they were getting last week, the Reps are now getting calls more along the lines of 4-1.
Rep. Brad Sherman, D-CA, has a blue paper out with the problems with the latest House bill:

I know at least two of the Nay votes from yesterday in the Senate are up for re-election--both Senators from Wyoming, Enzi (R) and Barrasso (D). I'd say they were voting the will of the people and were listening to their calls. The Ayes aren't listening and are still voting for the pork they stuffed it with (and probably aren't up for re-election).

Curious point: The Senate bill (.pdf) the wsj has online has 451 pages. Burn, baby, burn. |

A long time ago someone said getting a bill through Congress and making sausage have a lot in common. The end product is a lot more attractive if you don't watch the process. |

The only one I couldn't reach was Zach "The Snatch" Wamp who ended up voting to invest my money in incompetent bankers/competent crooks. I'll be voting against The Snatch if he runs for reelection again. |

That's the same message I left for my rep after I finally got through today. |
