With all due respect, ask someone who falls into a larger income bracket what they think of life in LA and then go pose that same question to a teacher. If you have ends, there is no place like LA, none!

That's because BS bozos abound, just say you're a talent scout for a porno film company.

Maybe if the Entourage type of lifestyle appeals to you, LA would be a good place to be rich.

Personally I'd rather be rich somewhere like New York, somewhere a lot more walkable.

I'd love to visit LA.

Although I have to admit that most of my impression of the city is based on two television series: Entourage and The Shield. Laughing

But it just seems like an unbelievable city! Sprawling, beautiful women, good weed, culturally diverse, scary, polluted, beautiful, ocean, Hollywood, Lakers, ect.....

There is a real freaky energy of L.A. that I kinda like. It really is like nowhere else in this world, feels like you've stepped onto another planet.

Especially when I think of the amazing bands that come out of there - janes addiction, red hot chili peppers, and those weird alternative swing bands, brain seltzer orchestra, and on and on.

Not to mention tattoo culture, surf culture, car culture, etc.

I lived in Los Angeles (Korea town) for two years and I still miss it. You can't beat the weather and the diversity of people in Los Angeles is a trip. The thing I miss the most....the smell of the ocean in the air. I still can smell it sometimes. I love Los Angeles (and California) and would love to live there again someday. I think everyone should live in California once in their life.

I also lived in K-town for two years and it SUCKED SO BAD. LA Koreans are HORRIBLE, absolutely HORRIBLE, and for the most part, LA is a dump with fake people, high cost of living, tight job market and a bunch of other bad points.

I did meet some nice people but man, hell if I'll ever go back.

Its a great place if you have a good job lined up so you can afford a nice place not to far from the beach and a reliable car. Otherwise you're fucked because you will be living in the ghetto and relying on shitty public transportation with no disposable income. If you can afford it the weather is awsome, music scene is top notch and the Mexican food is amazing. And you you can smoke some really great weed and eat at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles.
Long Beach is just south of L.A (and just north of Orange County) and the rent is much cheaper.

Guns N'Roses and Tool were very negative towards LA in Welcome to the Jungle and Aenima respectively.

[quote="sojourner1"] I seen so many wannabe freaks, drug addicts, and loony tunes walking Hollywood Boulevard with terrible attitudes. quote]

Anyone who's lived in LA could told you that.

I was born and raised in LA. I have... mixed feelings about the city.

As a lot of people mentioned, it's a good place to live if you have a solid income. Otherwise, you'll be living in Koreatown or worse areas of the city.

I appreciate the monstrosity of it all. Its size and diversity are amazing, and it took me a lifetime to discover all parts of LA. You have: Melrose, Downtown, Hollywood, Santa Monica, Sunset Blvd., Venice Beach, Westwood, Beverly Hills, the Valley, Pasadena, and of course, the Korea, China, Philippino, etc. Towns. It's pretty remarkable.

Unfortunately, it's the size and sheer enormity of LA that encourages people to behave in dysfunctional ways. Speaking in generalities, you'll find just... a lot of characters there, who act out out of being lonely and isolated (as a result of the city's enormous size). I also think the size and spread of the city brings about other negative behaviors in people, but I think that kind of stuff comes with the development of any city, really. Just some things to watch out for, I suppose.

To anyone who wants to live in LA, I always sincerely wish them good luck. It's a rough city to adapt to.
