Couldn't agree more. More than anything else, that is what will last and make an impression on any thoughtful person.

I left a recording of the rerun of the debate on in the next room, and can't quite understand what they are saying. But it sounds remarkably like Bill Clinton talking. It's the same fairly flat, slightly hoarse, reasoned, moderately paced presentation, along with some variation of pitch to make a point that even follows Clinton's pattern.
When I watched Biden talk I felt I was looking at someone who could easily fill the job of President. I wonder how much of that is because he follows the image of President that Clinton established.
Palin wasn't the NASCAR smashup that some were hoping for. She avoided a crash and burn mistake. But even though she was peddling as fast as she could, she kept falling farther and farther behind. I think her main sins were being annoying and boring. That voice! It was like chalk squeaking on a blackboard. |

If you look at this debate like a boxing match, it was like a lightweight going against Ali (ok, maybe not Ali, I'm being generous to Biden here). Sure, she outperformed her low expectations by lasting all ten rounds, but the belt's only going to one person. |

Was I hearing things or did she say that $700 billion is the amount we owe the Arab nations for energy costs? Where'd she pull that number from and isn't it strange that it's the exact same figure the President is asking to bail out Wall St. failures... their mistakes, their bad decisions? |
Buffet and Boon Pickens have both produced this number. It is the exact value of the US current account deficit, and coincidentally the same as what the USA spends on oil.
It's 700B per year. Not a overall total. |

I guess you're one of those right wingers who don't realize that "baby mama welfare" is a tiny fraction of corporate welfare. educate yourself. |

Spliff, the day I actually bother to address you is the day I lose all self-respect. Troll begone.
Anyhoo, two essential movies for understanding Palin:
Nicole Kidman in "To Die For"
Reese Witherspoon in "Election". |
