I have a bank account back home and a Korean bank account here in Korea. I was told by my Korean bank that my Korean bank card would not work for any kind of international purchase.

I do not have any credit cards.

Can I get some kind of international credit card from here in Korea? How do I get an internationally-accepted Visa account, or MasterCard, or whatever?

Thanks in Advance

I've read that a lot of people here have credit cards with Samsung card. You should do a search for information on that.

I have a credit card through my bank. A lot of foreigners here like to save money and put it in interest bearing accounts. If you do this, you should be able to get a credit card from your bank. Some banks might require you to put down a deposit but not ALL banks do. I would find one that doesn't require it.

Since you have a checking account back home, I would look into getting a debit card from them just in case.

Here's how I do it. I have a verified premier Paypal account tied to my bank back home. All international purchases I run through Paypal. Some services are a bit picky though when your IP address doesn't match the bank account address, but that's because of their backward system. In Korea, I do everything through bank transfer, or, on occasion with the trusty BC card.
