Very Happy Was at a PC room in Chuncheon about 11 the other night.

Suddeny a girl of 20 or so starts screaming. I look up, and some Korean dude is dragging her by the hair up the stairs. I almost tackled the guy. As I approached he let her go, then slapped her face. I ALMOST bum rushed the dude...maybe I should have. I felt I should man up and do it but the girl wasn't injured and I didn't know if it would cause an international incident, jeopardize my job, etc.

She starts to cry, along with 3 or 4 other girls and then 4 or 5 Korean dudes surround the guy and back him up the stairs.

I tell PC boss to call cops...she does -- 5 mins. later after lots of tears ...Dude then comes back down the stairs and grabs the girl again!...More screams and chaos and shoving...then dude goes outside...cops finally come and take notes...

In the U.S., with the crackdown on person-to-person crimes and ZERO tolerance for assault issues, this dude would be immediately handcuffed, arrested, jailed, sent to anger management and charged with assault -- at the very least! They took him away tho I didn't see if he was handcuffed, etc.
In some states, if the cops are called on ANY domestic incident, somebody is going to jail, getting name in newspaper with SERIOUS repercussions.

Does this caveman shit happen alot in Korea? Or is it because I'm out here in the sticks? I couldn't believe it. Dude was built like a brick shithouse and about 20...obviously jealousy/passion issues going on...but I'll bet he'd never been told no in his life. Throw in booze and it was a toxic scene.

She probably sold off his WoW account...

But seriously,

Probably better you didn't do anything. You're job ain't worth some minor brawl at a PC cafe (of all places). I mean, unless he's using a weapon... a keyboard maybe?

Hmm, this stuff happens a lot back in the states. It's different though, here in Korea it's like a spectator sport. Back at home, it happens in private most of the time with the wife unwilling to admit or call the police. I think domestic violence is even worse we just don't see it. Although, women have better rights at home, here women are still more submissive.

lmao, I'm still wondering what she did though.... at a PC cafe? Maybe cybering with another dude? lol maybe took his mapple story account? hahahhaha ohhh my god. Chirst that's funny.

I read the first sentence of this thread and that's enough for me. Do not get involved for gawds sake. Pulling people by the ear or hair is quite common here. And yes, it happens a lot here, but most of the time it's all hot air. As for cops, well yes, they are a bit laid back here. In the US though, I think it's the opposite extreme - they are too hyped up. Pull a gun on just about anyone, armed or not.

The guy in the flat next to me was beating the crap out of his girl at 2 am on Saturday. She was really screaming. So I went and banged on the door and told him to stop. I didnt know he spoke English but after I said I would kick his ass if he hit her again he said sorry in perfect English.

Then he went back to hitting her again so I got the cops. Three cops stood outside their door for 20 minutes and were too scared after to even knock on the door.

After the cops left he was still hitting her so I went and yelled that next time I saw him in the hall I would kick his ass. That seamed to work as the noise stopped.

This girl was screaming at the top of her lungs and not even one other person in our building came out to see what was going on.

This guy is very clean cut well dressed guy around 24. If guys like that smack their women that much imagine what soju bums must do?

There is far too much oppressed emotion in this society, it often causes people to go over the edge. And there is no turning back once you pull that first punch. I'm surprised at perfectly normal looking guys here who talk like crap, spit on the ground, smoke their heads off and godknows what else.

Just to let you know, to 'pull a punch' means to use less than full force. I guess you didn't know that.

I also look normal and 'smoke my head off'. And I don't beat my wife. Hooray for me.

What I mean is, anyone who ever hits a women can never take that back. It's the point of no return for them.

The way I see it, you shouldn't give them any chance to blame the whole thing on the USA.

I agree, my friend got tackled and thrown to the cement for barely shoving a porto potty. Some American cops are on a power trip. But here they are pretty lazy,

I just feel sorry for the young guys who have to sit on the bus all day. Lately they've been in my neighborhood and I'm not sure exactly why cuz I don't see any sort of protest.

They have been utilizing these young guys to patrol around the hooker hill area in Itaewon as part of the crackdown lately.

No point getting involved. It probably wasn't first time he's hit her, and it probably won't be the last. But she chooses to stay with him anyway. If you'd gotten involved, there's every chance she would have said that you attacked him with provocation. Then you're f**ked.

In my Univ. days I lived in Venice, Calif. which is kinda a tough neighborhood. Oakwood is full-on gang banger territory. I was going out on a Friday night, and in the apartment hallway I hear screaming from a woman in an apartment.

I mean screams like, I'm gonna f*cking die. I'm walking down the hallway and 3 doors are open - peolpe are listening to this woman scream her ass off (it's an old building from the 20s and the hallway is inside).

So I just pound on the door. I tell the people who are in their open doors to call the cops (they do). I tell the fighting couple the cops are coming. The door opens, the guy is holding a lamp in his hand, the girl is on the bed sobbing.

I simply tell the guy, you're gonna go to jail if if you keep this shit up, and he stares at me dumbly. He just kinda sits down on the bed and stares blandly, the cops show up, and I don't know what happened. I went out and hopefully they worked it out.
