I am being transferred to another school and I am going to need to stay in a hotel for about two weeks. (Expensive!) Does anyone know of a moving company that can ship my stuff to Suwon? Thanks.

My boss says he is going to give me a release letter. Is there anything I should prepare for? A recruiter says I might have to get another criminal background check even though I have an ARC. This doesn't make sense. I haven't been in the United States for about 6 months. I don't want to buy a ticket to go to Tokyo (even though I'd love to go) just to get a visa or whatever they need. I really think I might just go home since I don't really like being here that much anyways. Another background check according to www.apostille.us will be like 425$.

You need to get another criminal background check everytime you transfer schools or change schools (regardless of your ARC).

You shouldn't need to buy a ticket to go to Tokyo - why isn't your NEW employer paying for your visa run??? (and besides Fukuoka and Osaka are cheaper for visa-runs and better (the embassies there are better than the Tokyo embassy).

If your new employer is not going to pay for your visa run and give you free accomodation for 2 weeks - then get yourself a different job - why move all the way to Suwon to work for some cheap-skate new employer?

You can get the criminal check yourself - no need to pay $425 - send the paperwork away NOW to your family in your homecountry who will take it into the local policestation - pick it up a week or two later and mail it back to you (express ost)...

I've used Brandon's Services. Totally fine...although the gentleman who picked us up spoke zero English, we managed to move in just fine. He also carried our very heavy suitcases and a large TV up three two flights (fire escape-style) of stairs. It cost 90,000 won for about 2 hours of work.

I will say this though, if you have a Korean friend who can help you out, you can also try looking through the Byarok Shisangs (spelling??). Basically Korean pennysavers...you can have your friend kindly call and explain the situation to them. These newspapers are found everyone...in small little containers attached to walls, telephone lines, etc...often stuffed with garbage.

Can't help with the other stuff...sorry.
