I will be returning to Canada within the next couple of months. I want to take proof with me that I paid taxes in Korea. Does anyone know what kind of papers I would need, where, and how to get them?

Any help would be good. I already tried calling the tax office but had a communication break down. A specific name (in Korean) for a certain document I need would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Public school? ASk the admin office.

Hakwon? Good luck. It would not surprise me if your tax money was NOT remitted to the tax man.

You CAN check with the tax office to see IF anything was submitted.
(they won't issue any documents however).

I worked for a hogwan that submitted taxes, as I recieved refunds each year.

I am now working for a university with the same situation.

But regardless, I need some way of prooving I paid taxes here. Anyone have any good ideas as to how I can do that?

Go to the tax office and get an income tax certificate. Not sure if that is what you need?

Yeah that sounds about right.

Have you done this before? Can I get one for each tax year going back into the past?

Yep
took me some time and had 3 of the guys behind the desk dealing with me but i managed to get printouts per year of My income.
But language did pose a problem - if you have pay slips use them as props to explain the concept of joining all of them up onto one piece of paper.
