I recently started a new job, and have been going through the process of renewing my visa, though think something has gone awry, but am not 100% sure.

My old visa expired about a week ago, but that shouldn't have been a problem as I was informed by those in the office at my Uni who were dealing with it.

They took my passport and ARC a few weeks ago, and told me that they'd be renewing it, and that I wouldn't need a visa run. This surprised me, but I went with it.

I just got my passport back today, and am a bit confused. I have a new sticker in it which is for the job change, but not a new visa. It looks like the only visa I have is my old one, which is of course expired. They did get me a new stamp on my ARC which looks like I'm here, but am worried that the job change sticker doesn't actually give me a new visa, and that if I go travelling anytime soon I'll run into trouble getting back in.

So do I have a new visa? Or am I about to face some crazy run arounds to make sure that it's correct?

while in my case it was for an f-2-1 visa, a sticker indicating my new visa is all i received. it worked fine passing through immigration both in and out of the country recently though.

Thanks, I think it'll work out. I'm just a bit nervous that I'll go on a trip and not be able to get back in. I think as long as I have my ARC with my passport I should be fine.

Just seemed confusing considering it isn't a new visa, and it's only a job change sticker.
